***WARNING—BULLDOG BUILDERS*** We were looking for a well-qualified, reasponsive, general contractor for a large project on our severally hail damaged home—roof, siding, gutters, along which we are adding two patio doors and several windows at our own expense due to seal damage. Jason, at first, appeared to respond quickly, showed up promptly and then... we basically never heard from him again. He said he would have his quote to us within a day or two. After a week had gone by I sent a fairly strongly worded, but professional, message to him about how disappointed I was that we had not heard from him— no estimate, nor any reason for no estimate, no message not even a phone call. After I messaged him he sent back a fairly terse reply stating he had sent it to us and he would check what happened. The next day I receive a message that his system that he uses for his quotes had some “technical difficulties” and it bounced back into his spam so therefore he didn’t know it wasn’t sent. He said he was working with the systems technical advisor and once he got it fixed he would re-send the quote. My husband smelled something fishy and basically said that he would rather not deal with him and I sent him a response that we had decided not to pursue Bulldog Builders. But after a day or so I sent him back an email and I apologized to him!!! I explained that I had gotten some negative health news the day I sent him the email deciding to not go with him and that may have skewed our thinking and so we had reconsidered our decision and kindly asked him to resubmit his bid. We have never heard from him again! What kind of business owner doesn’t have the empathy or understanding to take one bad day on a customer’s part (even after an apology) when his system was at fault to begin with—and not even have the decency to respond in any professional capacity. When we originally hadn’t heard from him after one week, I had told him I would make sure that I would get on any review board possible to make sure that others knew about the lack of follow-through of Jason from Bulldog Builders. Then he did the half-hearted Mea Culpa text about his “systems problems” What a joke!! Our gut is telling us he discriminates towards “high end homes” and projects. I’m going to post the name & phone number of the EXCELLENT Contractor we are using if he gives me his approval. His company received four homes for additional business this week after meeting others in our subdivision through us. Karma is good!!Jun 26, 2018Verified
I cannot say enough good things about these guys. This is my first house and the roof needed replacing immediately. There was water coming in through the ceiling and walls. I was furious at the home inspector ("well the bowl [in the attic] was dry when we saw it..."), scared about being a homeowner and living alone in the city, and didn't know a thing about finding reputable contractors. Enter Jason. He showed up, we hit it off immediately, and he gave it to me straight. Unlike some of the other bidders, he didn't resort to scare tactics or sweet talk and flattery- much appreciated. He answered all my questions, discussed all the pros and cons of various shingles, venting systems, and materials, and was overall amazing. I feel like the price was very fair, and I got a great deal. The crew very carefully moved flower pots and bird feeders out of the way, swept up all debris (including on my neighbor's yard!) and carted away all the old shingles for recycling. Not only is it a major relief to have a solid roof over my head, but I feel 100% confident in the job and will absolutely be calling them again if I need any repairs or remodeling!Jun 1, 2017Verified
They were on time, fast, friendly, and very professional.Feb 28, 2018Verified
I paid over $14,000 for a roof replacement that is still leaking. Owner refuses to fix the issue. I would not waste a dime with this company. Their customer service skills are extremely poor.Jan 29, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Yes, I use software service called Exactimate. It's the industry gold star standard. It uses prices by zip code. They get there pricing from surveying local contractors, its the same system most insurance companies use.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Brief discussion to see if we are a good fit. If we are I would do an on site visit to discuss the details of the project. After a consultation I will provide a free detailed estimate within 24-48 hours for the scope of work discussed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I graduated Carroll University and have over twenty years experience in the trades and estimating experience. I've completed hundred's of remodeling projects and thousands of estimates. I have also expedited large new construction projects.
