FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We use "fixed-fee" pricing whenever possible, as it is easier for most people to understand and minimizes uncertainty along the way. Occasionally a particular case will require the use of hourly billing, but we will discuss this in advance. We do not charge a fee for the initial consultation!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet first just to get to know one another. We listen to the client's challenges and goals. We then propose some solutions and quote a fixed fee to achieve those solutions. The client is under no obligation to use our firm at anytime. If the client decides to pursue a relationship with us, we collect 50% of the quoted fee to begin, with the balance due when we meet to sign all documents.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Of course a college degree followed by 3 years of law school and passage of the Alabama Bar. I have worked within the estate-planning area for decades and within the elder law area for the last 11 years, and am active in several local organizations and charities benefiting seniors and those with disabilities. I have served in several Bar committees and sections that focus on both elder law and estate-planning. I am an active speaker to groups on these subjects and am published in several magazines and journals.
