FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
So, I do a fixed rate depending on the working hours, any additional work (like more advanced editing, grading, etc) and their budget. However, I do add discounts in that I can wedding photography at the same time if needed for free. With any price that I send, I'm happy to negotiate further as I learn more about the proceedings with the client.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
So, the process is fairly simple. I like to get to know the client well enough before shooting, as I feel that impacts the work greatly, It makes them more comfortable around the camera, and creates more confidence in terms of certain creative liberties. When it comes to film work, I love to discuss at length the project to really understand the aspects of the film to the director, so when I come at it from a visual standpoint, we're on the same wavelength and the shoot can run smoothly. When it comes to editing the videos, I like to send notices (and thankyous) to the people who have hired me and give them a rundown on how the editing workflow will go, and will gladly send a few cuts along to get feedback from them, but also to show progress is being made.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
At Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, I learned a wealth of information during my time there with my professors. I worked on a ton of short films, but I learned more from my freelance work. This included filming a few weddings, music videos, DIY concerts, and my own personal short films.
