About this pro
Bruce worked with our dog for one session and we found him very supportive, knowledgeable and evidence-based. He spent time with our ten month old and focused on observing his behaviour and gave us great tips to make our relationship with him more productive. I really appreciated that he followed up very sincerely on our situation and his positive attitude.Sep 6, 2018Verified
My pleasure to give five stars for Bruce Stone-personal animal trainer. The session with my cats was very professional and helpful! Thank you!May 31, 2018Verified
I have a problem that I think I may be able to handle on my own, but if I need to call a professional, I won't hesitate to call Bruce Stone. I corresponded with him a few times and he seems to be very professional and polite.Mar 11, 2018Verified
Bruce was incredibly helpful! He came to our apartment and spent and hour and half with our problem child. He was very thorough, took several videos of our cat and followed up after the initial appointment with several suggestions and recommendations. We would highly recommend Bruce and his services for your furry friend needs.Nov 19, 2017Verified
Bruce has been very patient and informative. He has helped me decide whether a service dog was right for me by providing the crucial information that I couldn't find online. The guidance has been extremely reassuring. I look forward to the process of finding and training a dog with Bruce.Nov 16, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Every dog is an individual and every household is truly unique. The rhythms that they run on and the noise levels that they exist in can be extremely variable. But the one constant that we have always offered ALL of Our Clients is the Strongest Guarantee in the Industry. Bar None and have for more than 30 years now. We wouldn't have it any other way.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Typically after an Initial Evaluation, we'd begin with a Basic Obedience Program which would normally run 3x a week (Mon. Wed. Fri, for example) at your house for 4 weeks and a total of 12 sessions. This would encompass the Stage One phase of Basic Obedience and would be the basis and the foundation for Any and All other Training of whatever type that was to follow. Additional training would primarily depend upon your goals and desires for this dog and be guided by your dog's particular talents and demonstrated abilities. A Stage One Basic Obedience Course would normally include the On-leash Basic Obedience Commands as follows : Come - Sit - Down - Stay - Sit/Stay- Down/Stay - Stand/Stay (stand for examination) - Walk at Heel - a Long Recall and an O.K. Release (allowing your dog the freedom to "Just Go be a Dog" for a bit and to go make his own decisions about the world and to learn from those experiences) This would also come along with Training for both you and your family as to how to operate the dog and How, Where and What to use When. All Commands would be installed on both Hand Signal and Voice Command as necessary.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine trained Animal Behaviorist and I specialize in K-9, Feline and Equine Behavior, Training, Care and Management. I was extremely fortunate while at Cornell to have studied under the direct supervision of Dr. Katherine Houpt. Dr. Houpt is widely recognized as one of the foremost K-9 Aggression experts in the world and she has had a great influence on both me and the evolution of my training philosophies. Exposing me to the work and research of Dr. Ian Dunbar and Dr. Ilana Reisner among others. Being K-9, Feline and Equine-centric, Dr. Houpt's interests run parallel to my own and thus gave us plenty of common ground on which to build. I will always be most grateful for my time at Cornell and the wonderful experiences I've had and continue to have there. I try to get up there just as often as possible (even with my current schedule) as there is ALWAYS Something NEW and Wonderful going On Up there. It's just a wonderful place to learn, to grow and to stay current. There are always new challenges and new doors being opened. If you like Horses, Cats and Dogs, it is truly a remarkable place.
