Introduction: COVID 19 NOTE: I am fully vaccinated and boosted as of March 2022. Hello! My name’s David and I teach saxophone, clarinet and flute. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Read on down below for a bit about what I provide for teaching (also a bit about myself and my background). I hope I can be the right pick for you or family member to teach any of these awesome and fun instruments! I provide thorough methods and step-by-step instructions for saxophone, clarinet and flute focusing on the fundamentals to make the learning process useful, to build upon new skills, and to keep it fun and focused. A bit about me. Born and raised in a highly musical household in New Hampshire, now based in New York, I graduated from Berklee College of Music in Performance and The Juilliard School in Jazz Studies Masters of Music Degree. I substitute teach at The Juilliard School MAP program division, performing and teaching worldwide including the US, Canada, Europe, Mexico and Japan. I’ve studied/performed with many masters such as George Garzone, Dave Liebman, Ken Peplowski, Jerry Weldon, Harry Skoler, Ron Blake, Dan Block and Ted Nash to name a few. The enjoyment I get out of teaching and mentoring students on Clarinet and/or Saxophone is almost beyond words. It is in my DNA. There’s so much to get dive into, it’s never ending, whether it’s sound on the instruments, technique, phrasing, dynamics or just breathing, you can always learn something new that can really take your playing to a whole new level! One of my gifts is patience, which is required as there are many frustrating moments learning an instrument as intricate as saxophone, clarinet and flute. Focusing on trouble areas is something I also thoroughly enjoy. Thoroughness and honesty keep my students in the zone of reality, being informed to get better and to have control and command over their instrument, to have fun making music. Fixing the problems individually helps the entire learning process continue with fluidity (embouchure, technique, listening, reading music,etc..). I teach from absolute beginner to the most advanced in all genres.
