I am a beginner and I was very nervous to start singing lessons. But from our early discussions Dave made me feel very comfortable and from our very first lesson I hadn't felt nervous at all. Dave offers a very comfortable space, is very understanding, and I improve considerably with each class. I'm very happy to have him as a teacher.Feb 12, 2018Verified
I've really enjoyed working with Dave so far. I felt like I made substantive progress after just a single hour, and I'm excited for future lessons!Jul 12, 2017Verified
Singing Lessons (for adults)
Dave is an amazing instructor! He truly cares about his students. Keep an open mind when coming to his lessons, because I can assure you that his methods are to ensure that you enhance musically, but with correct techniques. Dave is patient and honest. He not only wants to see his students do well and improve in their lessons, but he also cares about his student's well-being. I am happy that I found Dave on thumbtack, by far the best decision, I have ever made. I have improved greatly within the year, and I know I'll continue.Mar 6, 2018Verified
Piano Lessons (for adults)
Dave has been great to work with. He's struck a balance between traditional lesson plans and also my requests for customization. I would recommend Dave for any level of student. He's awesome!Jun 2, 2017Verified
Dave has been a wonderful teacher! I am a novice pianist and the lessons and homework assignments are tailored for my ability and progression. I never feel like I am being expected to do more than I am capable of. Dave is also a pleasant person to speak with, which is an added bonus, and extremely knowledgeable! I would recommend people of all ages and skill levels take lessons from him. Thank you Dave!Oct 16, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge based on a sliding scale. I have a preferred hourly rate but am always happy to work with a student's budget.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When working with a new student I try to get to know where they're coming from: What musical knowledge do they already have? What are their fears about learning music? How do I make them comfortable?
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music, and I've studied voice and piano extensively.
