Introduction: Vito Roccoforte is a music industry veteran, a founding member of The Rapture, a global DJ, an accomplished electronic musician and has been playing drums since he was a child. He has recorded with Paul Epworth, Dangermouse, Timbaland, James Murphy, Tim Goldsworthy and Phillipe Zdar on labels such as Universal, Motown, Mercury, DFA and Sub Pop. He has shared stages with Daft Punk, The Cure, LCD Soundsystem, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Sex Pistols, The Fall and many more. In addition to touring and playing music Vito also teaches drumming and electronic music production. From the very first lesson, each student will get behind the drums and make music, learning rudiments and other basic techniques in a fun, functional and playful manner. Each lesson will be professionally recorded and they will be able to listen to themselves perform, track their progress from lesson to lesson and play along with other instruments. As they continue to grow and study, we will focus on learning the nuts and bolts of rock, pop and dance drumming broadening their knowledge of music, production and performing in a way that will get them playing with real musicians, in real groups and in real studios. In my own life, music taught me discipline and focus, helped to channel my restless and inquisitive energy and gave me a deep understanding of how individuals patiently working together can create a purposeful and cohesive whole. But, above all else, like I said, drumming was and is fun! I still love playing and creating music every bit as much as I did when I was a kid and I hope to help each student discover that same inspiration and love of music. Drumming is fun! i love playing the drums and creating music and it's been a huge part of my life since I was a child. I believe in engaging each student's individual creativity and passion immediately. Music is personal and expressive and every student approaches it from a unique perspective. That's why I think it is essential to tap into this and to build off what already excites them. While many teachers might approach lessons as a way to pass on their own identity and taste, I believe it's not about my taste and inspiration, it's about the student's and their unique way of seeing and playing with the world around them. Everyone comes to music with his or her own goals both big and small. I believe the roll of the teacher is to make these goals real in a way that opens the student's mind and expands their artistic vision. In keeping with this, I tailor each lesson to fit the student, focusing on giving them the specific tools for accomplishing their ambitions in the most enjoyable and constructive way possible.

Vito has been a great drum and music teacher for my son. My son really enjoys his lessons and has learned a lot. Vito is a very creative, patient and engaging teacher. My son loves the recordings he gets from each lesson of him playing and loves to play along with them at home. Highly recommended!

Vito worked with me to teach me to play drums a few years back. He was endlessly patient, understood how to help me work through rhythms that stumped me, and overall the experience was awesome! I would definitely recommend Vito to anyone who wants to learn.

Working with Vito is truly great. I was sceptical at first but he's consistently guided me through Ableton Live struggles that previously make me want to pull my hair out. His overall understanding of music production and comforting style of teaching have helped me progress and grow with my music. He has my vote of approval.

I grew up in a two-teacher household and before becoming a full time musician I worked extensively in childhood education as an assistant Teacher in Elementary Schools for Kindergarten, First and Fifth grade. At the same time, I was also a math and reading tutor for children ages five through twelve. Now, I'm a father and as I began teaching my son and his friends to drum, I remembered those lessons and made sure to get students behind a real kit to engage their creativity from the start. Watching their imaginations spark reminded me why I was drawn to both music and education all those years ago and so, I have decided to open up my studio to other students using what I've learned over my years of recording and touring to teach the skills needed to play on-stage, in the studio and with other musicians. .
