Introduction: With 13 years of teaching experience, I have helped students from every score level: from those who are just beginning and need the most help to those who are very close to a perfect score, from artists to engineers, and from those who need extra time to those who barely need it. I have worked for Princeton Review, Kaplan, and CATES tutoring, and have thrived in each setting, helping every student I've met along the way. Having worked inside each of these companies, I know how they operate, what their strategies are, and can take the best from each setting a give it to you. I am a compassionate teacher and a good listener who explains things very well. I can help with SAT, ACT, SAT 2 Physics and Math, Physics and Math in general, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and writing. Unlike large conglomerates and tutoring companies, I individual my approach to you using whatever tools there are available that best suit the situation. I am located in NYC, and can work in person locally or online. Have worked with students all over the US, and outside of the US such as London, Brussels, and Peru. I love working with my students, seeing my students improve, and hearing about my students' success after their tests or grades come back. All of my students have gone on from working with me to successful college, graduate school, and professional careers. I am happy that I get to help people succeed.

I am the parent: 1. Highly recommended by a good friend of my son who ended up getting into a top college. 2. Asked very important questions to both parents and my son to gain in-depth knowledge of personality, work ethic, goals, schools interested in of the student. 3. Patience when needed but also was not afraid to "push back" and demand more from my son 4. Weekly tracking reports, progress, gaps, difficulties, barriers to success presented to parent and student 5. Sense of humor in a fun quirky kind of way that allowed for a great connection with student. 6. Very motivating 7. My son ended up getting into #1 choice Boston University as well as 9 other schools !!!!!!!! Could not have been achieved without the help, genuine concern, guidance, and confidence in my son. 8. I first met Robert in 2012. He helped prepare me for the GRE and tutored me in physics. Robert is one the best tutors I have ever had. He is patient and is able to explain/break down complex concepts. If you don't understand something, he won't keep repeating the same instructions expecting a different result. Instead, Robert will think of other ways to present/teach the material until you get it. If you're looking for a tutor your search ends here! I highly recommend him! -Leah

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing begins at $125 / hour. I generally meet with my students for an hour and half at a time. If your budget does not make this rate possible, we can negotiate.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I like to talk on the phone with my students and/or the parents of my students to answer any questions that they have, and to talk about what plan would work best for them. I also send them the materials they should use, and ask my students to take a full practice test (if they are studying for a test). At our first meeting, I get to know my student's interests and skills. Then I ask them what they envision for their process, and what kind of teaching helps them the most. Depending upon what I hear, and my evaluation of the test results they have, or the homework that I see, I continue to assess my student's current situation, and I choose the exact exercises or explanations that will give them the biggest results in the shortest amount of time. Every one of my students is different, and therefore, this process changes with each student, but listening and assessing always happen.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have more than 10 years of experience teaching GRE, GMAT, SAT, LSAT, SAT, ACT, SAT 2 Math 1 and 2, SAT 2 Physics, English, writing, and high school math up to and including AP Calculus, as well as AP Physics. I am a jack of all trades, with an MFA in Performance and a BA in Theatre, undergraduate work in Physics and math, and I have completed graduate work in Women’s Studies and Dramaturgy, and was a NYC Math Teaching Fellow in 2009. Robert is a compassionate and caring teacher, and graduated in 2014 from the Interdependence Project’s meditation teacher training program. Besides tutoring, Robert has an art print business, writes novels and poetry, and is currently learning C++, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. Robert is a PC modding enthusiast and a somewhat-professional gamer.
