Introduction: I am a running coach with a decade of experience. In addition, I am a recreational runner and racer, and so I know what its like to strive for personal goals. Every minute of your personal time spent trying to achieve a goal is precious. My coaching sessions are aimed at getting the most out of your time with me. No matter your skill level, I can work with you. I will isolate areas that need to be worked on, or maintained. These can include: -running form and mechanics -stride rate and stride length -breathing rate and patterns -current fitness with sprint speed, VO2 max, lactate threshold, and -long-distance endurance -mental approach to training and racing Its simple: seeing people reach their goals is the core joy that I receive from my work! I know how rewarding it can be for myself, so seeing one of my clients experience the same thing is an awesome feeling.

After completing a handful of half marathons and short-distance runs in 2013, I had hit a wall with my running and wanted to see a change in my running performance. I knew I needed to make a change in order to see improvement. I was introduced to Jim through one of his former athletes. I’d never done speedwork before but signed up with Jim for Half Marathon training in 2014 and later on in the year, signed up to train for my first marathon. The workouts were great and I started to gain confidence and a better understanding on how to approach my runs. I found myself reaching personal bests in each race I participated in while under Jim’s tutelage - namely scoring a 17 minute PR at the 2014 Brooklyn Half. This paved the way for the NYC Marathon. I felt prepared and strong on race day and never hit the infamous wall. I continued training with Jim through 2015 and continued to see athletic gains. I’m back training with Jim after a hiatus and I’m so excited. What I appreciated most about my experience with Jim wasn’t just the improvement in my performance but the fact that he provided the perfect balance of push and support and his dedication to making me a better athlete. I trusted that the guidance he provided would get me where I needed to be and it did. Can’t recommend him enough!

Jim was an excellent coach - my running technique and speed greatly improved under his guidance. He's very well knowledgeable about the sport and a runner for most of his life. He taught me right away about midfoot striking and improving my form - which I was clueless about. Jim is patient and reliable which I really appreciate - especially when it comes to such a physical and sometimes stressful sport. My goal was to get faster and stronger, and I almost immediately started PR'ing races after hiring Jim - including the NYC Half and Brooklyn Half. This year I plan to qualify for the Boston Marathon, and I'm confident Coach Jim is going to help me get there. I definitely recommend hiring Jim as your running coach, you will be happy you did!
