Bryans proscapes's reply
In response to this review and to my defense. What this customer is so upset about is that I would not come back and do more free work she wanted me to lay down for free 680 square feet of sod because when the work was done it had rained for 10 days and the seed did not grow fast enough for her expectations because seed needs sun not rain more than anything to sell the house so she said the least I could do was lay the sod down I said I do not work for free I have already included and paid for several several things for free I cannot do anymore I offered to lay the sod down for very very cheap she declined also you can look at the date of when the job was started and when she replied that will prove what I am saying is in fact the truth this job was nearly a month ago she was completely happy and satisfied her and her son but because I would not come back to lay down sod so they could take pictures of a green back yard to sell the house I have a bad review now when I first came to give an estimate for this customer I told her I would do her irrigation system which included two valves and 17 Rainbird pop ups with swing assembly's attached to them to prevent breakage with schedule 40 pipe three-quarter inch and 1 inch she wanted seed laid down because it was cheaper those are the things I charged for. now the work I did to get the job I told her I would do specific things for free which included repairing her broken gate with new latches and boards laying down a 15' X 13' flagstone patio, removing $300 worth of trash that she allowed her contractors to keep piling up in the driveway with my trash because she was gutting out her house, installing a new irrigation system for the front yard because I said I would get it working but it turned out that with a 1300 square foot front yard they only had 3 sprinkler heads to water at all so I got cheated into doing the work because the owner's son swore up and down there was more sprinklers even though I proved there were not by finding the sprinkler lines and connecting a hose into it in several different areas and showing them that there are no sprinkler heads and because contractors had broken all the pipes and cut in several different places the wire that operates the valves from the timer I had to replace and honor my word for the front sprinkler system, I also rewired everything to the timer which included 200 feet of wire I also paid for the sand for the flagstone to be laid down on which was $60 The Wire was $54 the fence material was $36 the front irrigation system was $280 the flagstone was $348 but in her defense she did pay for the stone I leveled out the area and layed the stone down but i delivered it. Please feel free to call her and ask her if this is the truth and why she was upset I have letters of approvals and text messages and other messages of them being happy with the work it is all because I would not come there and do more free work like I said in the beginning some people are extremely ungrateful and I do my very very best to try to please them unfortunately some people you just can't please

I used Thumbtack and received several quotes for cleaning out all the hedge beds in front of my house, and replacing all of the old mulch. I hired Bryan not only because he gave me the best quote, but because he seemed genuinely interested in the quality of my landscape. I got the impression he really knew what to do and how best to get the job done. I was not disappointed as Bryan did a fantastic job, on time and within budget. He honored his quote, and made sure that even the smallest of detail was fully taken into consideration, and left no mess behind for me to clean-up. Bryan let me know about his many additional services without being pushy or judgmental in any way. In fact, I hired him on the spot to repair and tune-up my sprinkler system. I highly recommend Bryan for all of your outdoor home-scape needs. Last but not least, my dog welcomed Bryan onto her lawn without issue, which is actually a more impressive recommendation than I could possibly provide.

Bryan over promised and under delivered. He said the project would take 4 days, it took 7. I asked if he had a crew, he said he did. Hi did not. Tuesday was day one, He showed up about 3pm with a helper and unloaded materials and left, telling me he would be there in the morning. Wednesday he showed up about !:30. He and his helper started removing the old fencing. They worked way past dark and his helper hurt his foot working in the dark. Thursday another late start, his wife was with him and they worked on removing the old posts and putting in the new. They worked past dark and he said he would have the whole thing done on Friday. I had my doubts. Friday he and the Mrs got the rest of the polls set and got most of the rails on. He said he would be back at 7:30 am. Saturday they showed up at about 11:30 am with one of their kids worked till dark and got most of the back of the fence up and it looks good. On Sunday he shows up about 10:30 with his other son and his neighbor kid, the boys are about 10 years old. The boys got a board out of my garage, drew a target on it, screwed it to my fence and had target practice with a slingshot. The boys made themselves at home, rummaging thru my garage for tools and built a project of some sort to stay occupied. Bryan worked till about 7pm that night and asked to be paid even though he wasn't finished. I went ahead and paid him for the rest of the fence and held back for the concrete work. Monday 10:30 am arrival. He worked till about 8 pm and "finished". He tried a couple of different latches that didn't look right . finally I told him to do what he thought was best. He put bolt style latches on the gates that can only be opened from one side. At this point we are tired of this game, they are loading up to go, so I take him out the final payment. They leave. I start moving our cars back to the drive way and I see the concrete job. I was not happy. No brush finish and it was a bit wavy and starting to set up so I got out a broom and finished it my self. I sent him a text at 8:31 pm telling him I was not real happy with the latches and that he had not finished the concrete and I would take care of it. At 1:14 am I am awakened by 2 long rambling text messages from Bryan explaining how the latches we not his fault and to remember that it is just a gate. I replied to his text this morning, explaining how I felt about the whole job and his not doing what he said he would. In the day light I could see where he just snapped off on of the old posts and left about 2 inches of jagged steel sticking out of the ground. I have called him about it 3 times and still have not heard any reply since his 1:14 am text. In between doing my job today I have made one of my gates workable and will get to the other one tomorrow, Once again Bryan will over promise, under deliver and tell you it is not his fault.
Bryans proscapes's reply
On day one I told Chris it was my intention to drop off materials that i was finishing another job. Also I would never have stayed late if the customer didnt want me to, but I was under the impression thats what he wanted, as he commented how hard we were working each day and that he appreciated it. If this isnt how he felt he should have immmediately stated that and I of course would have complied. Secondly, yes occassionally my boys come with me only to spend time with me, as I did as a child with my father. He gave me no impression that he wasnt happy they were there. Instead HE offered the tools to my kids, they by no means would EVER touch something of someones without asking or being offered. I went to Home Depot 5 different times in one day for him because he wasnt happy about any of the latches I chose. At the 5th time he finally agreed and said he was happy about it. Chris came out everyday and we had open communication and he always said both him and his wife were happy and appreciated all of the hard work, so this review in itself came as a shock. The work he is claiming to have done consisted of a large hole being chopped in his gate, which is a security hazard I would never reccomend because now someone can easily break in his yard, it is by no means proffesional and I would never recommend this to any client. He stood next to me as I did the cement work, which was added on after he was apparently already "dissatisfied" but decided he would add additional work with me. which is also why the job took longer than originally expected. If he was dissatified he NEVER expressed that to me. Also, He didnt pay me in full the night he says he did. He was short $327 which I said nothing about because I figured a later payment would be given, which i now doubt will happen. Chris never expressed ANY dissatisfaction from me and I am surprised by this review considering. My business is my lively hood and I will always do whatever it takes to make the customer happy, if they express that to me. Even if I dont agree the money will come straight from my pocket to satisfy my costumers no matter what. All he needed to do was express that which he did not. I hope this offers insight into my side.

Bryan started on the project Aug 16th, it is now Sept 11th and it has been one excuse after another as to why this project isn't finished. When he worked it was usually for a few hours a day. I asked Bryan would he be finished by Sept 1st he promised he would of course that wasn't true. I believe the whole time he has been trying to do more than 1 job at a time and neglecting my project. Which he said he wouldn't do. I will say his work is decent but he has no respect for anyone's time or money. When you as a contractor accept a job it is your obligation to let the person that hired you know if the completion date is not going to be met. It is your obligation to let the person who is paying you that you won't be there at 8am but instead 3pm Showing up for money was his only consistent thing. Oh and weather was never a issue ...sunny pretty much the entire time. I could go on but I think anyone who reads this will get the point. This was definitely a learning moment for me so always 1) agree on completion date and put in contract what happens if date is not met( excluding weather) 2) agree on deposit and pay no more until completion of job. I will update more at a later date
