FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Please contact me for pricing. Rates vary based on whether tutoring is delivered over the internet or in person. If in person, the rate is less if you come to me (Plymouth-Canton area). I will travel to your location if necessary, although a travel fee will apply. *Note - for families in need of a more economical service, I will tutor up to two students at once. That way you can find another student to study with your child and split the cost with his or her parents. Many students benefit from a 'buddy system' study approach.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every student is different, but I have noticed the following trends: Students who already excel academically generally only need ten hours of instruction (plus homework and two full length practice tests) to thoroughly prepare for the ACT. This is best accomplished in 5 two hour sessions spread over the five weeks prior to the exam. If your student has taken a practice test and scored 26 or above, this is the program for her/him. Average students typically require twenty hours of instruction (plus homework and three full length practice tests). If your student has taken a practice test and scored 22 and above, this is the program for her/him. Students with practice scores 21 and below, or students who have not yet taken a practice test, should contact me. I can provide a practice test which you can administer to your student. I will then analyze the results and discuss a plan with you. There is no charge for a diagnostic practice test.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in biomedical engineering. I tutor because I enjoy interacting with students.
