Hired on Thumbtack

Tough job fixing siding after it was torn off by wind, the original work wasn't very good. Some of the pieces weren't locked in right allowing the wind to catch it. Then when the siding was replaced there was a great deal of work balancing the siding out so it would look ok. Looks better now than when it was new.

50 $ hourly, 2.50 to 2.85 sq ft flooring install, 300 $ remove and replace window. Bid by the job mostly.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I learned to read a tape from an old carpenter and woodworker/ cabnetmaker. taught myself to weld on the family farm and repair work out of necessity.
