He came to my house to give us a bid, which seemed reasonable. While he was fixing them, he told us it was going to cost appoximately $700 more than originally quoted, as there was more deterioration than realized. We had no problem with this, as I know that sometimes you don't know the extent of the work needed. When he was done with the job, he gave me a 20 year warranty. This of course enhanced his credibility with me. After the snow thawed, we saw that some of the mortar had come out, and that the steps needed to be fixed. I contacted John via email and let him know. He responded after a few days, and told me he would be out to take a look in a few days. He didn't show up, and did not get back to me. I tried him again, but to no avail. Finally, my husband contacted him, and let him know that we were trying to get him to come out to fix the steps. John then called me back, not my husband, and said he would be out in a day or two. He did not show up. After many attempts by email and phone,my husband then sent him a certified letter explaining that if he didn't come out and respond in a timely manner, we would have to take action. Finally, in response to the letter, he called my husband back, and got very indignant. He again told us he would come out....he didn't. He then called, and said the warranty didn't apply because we didn't have a sealer. This is untrue, and the warranty only states that after two years, the sealer must be applied. When we pointed this out, he reluctantly came to our house. He told us he fixed the problem. He is now saying that he will not stand by the work if salt is used on the steps. There is nothing stated in the warranty regarding this. He did add more mortar, and "fixed" the steps. However, he did a very sloppy job, leaving a bunch of excess mortar on the steps. It looks like a hack job. It looks awful! I am an the service industry as well. If I ever treated my client's this way, I wouldn't have any clients. Don't use this guy. He absolutely does not stand behind his work! I only gave him a one star, because this website wouldn't let me give him no stars!Aug 2, 2018Verified
We asked Joe if he could repair our back steps, in the winter no less (before the ground froze which makes a difference apparently). He was willing. We wanted it done as soon as possible because of the dropping temps. He had fast availability. He did a great job for us. We are very pleased with the results. He was easy to work with. Plus his price very reasonable. We will be using him again for our concrete and other hard service work. We highly recommend him and have already recommended him to our neighbors.Dec 29, 2017Verified
