Introduction: I combine instruction in the classics like Beethoven and Bach, with modern popular music like Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift to ensure that students feel they are playing music that is relevant and that they'll enjoy, while still building technical skill. Throughout the year, I create fun and festive performance events, as well as more formal recitals where students can perform with their peers, building confidence and proper performance technique. Each year, I also have my students participate in The Federation Festival: a national judicatory event. We also give back to the community by providing the gift of music to local senior citizen retirement facilities. I love introducing music to my students. Each student reacts differently to different genres of music literature. I love it when they light up and adore the music they are playing. It also give me great satisfaction when their musical talent over into the personal lives, as the perform in school talent shows, or tell me about how they played piano for their family gatherings. Then I know I have helped to give them the gift of music that will last a lifetime.
