FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Customers should know that pricing depends on location, type of job or assignment, how many billable hours, how many officers, the risk and liability involved, the supply and the demand can all factor into costs and pricing. Remember if the rate is low or not at the same rate as some other companies that likely means the company is not a real company. They are not licensed and insured. They are likely paying staff "under the table or off the books." They are not insured and not bonded.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We also want you to help you to make the right decisions when choosing a Licensed Security Firm. ***Many companies on Thumbtack may NOT be Licensed and do NOT hold proper licensing credentials!!*** ***ALL Companies offering to provide, furnish, or supply you with Security Officers, Security Guards, Body Guards, Security Staff Or any other type of security or investigations MUST hold a Watch Guard or Private Detective License issued by the Massachusetts State Police Certification Unit. *** They MUST also provide and furnish you with a Certificate Of Insurance with a minimum of 1 Million in General Liability and Workman's Comp Coverage. You can verify if a company is licensed by asking them to send you a copy of their license, their bond, and their certificate of insurance. You can also: Confirm an active watch license, contact the MA State Police Certification Unit by phone or Visit the Mass State Police Certification Unit Website to Verify if a Company is Licensed to Provide Security Services.
