I would absolutely recommend The Butler Did It to my cheating ex husband. In short, go somewhere else. For the full story, see below: I've never paid someone to clean a property of mine before so I suppose my basis of comparison could be described as "weak." That said, I'm quite capable of identifying the work of a con-artist. I'm a life-time renter; I recently moved from one rental property from another. My former landlord mandated that the house be professionally cleaned upon my departure. She (at the time) specified that a basic cleaning would be sufficient, so I was thrilled to see the Butler Did It had a Spring Cleaning special of $99 for two hours of work. When I called to make the appointment, the move-out cleaning (significantly more expensive) was recommended to me. But because I was not required to pay for that service, I requested the basic cleaning. The day of, the cleaners arrived, and they were very friendly and helpful. Though I thought it was odd they were under the impression I did want to the move-out cleaning, it was simple enough to correct them. I paid the $99 and everything appeared to be okay. My landlord was meeting me that very same day to exchange keys for security deposit. Upon her arrival she decided that she did want the kitchen appliances cleaned. I knew that this service did not come with the basic cleaning so I asked if there was any kind of appliance by appliance up-charge. I was informed I could pay $30 and have the kitchen appliances included. I paid the additional fee, finished business with the landlord, and had to get to work. I left the property believing that everything was in good order. Around ten minutes later, I got a call from the owner of the company. As it turns out, the men were "repulsed" by my property and had decided it was acceptable to leave as soon as I left. They cleaned for roughly 20 minutes of the two hours I paid for. The owner accused me of "taking advantage" of his men, rhetorically asked me if I would clean a refrigerator for $30, and informed me that the cleaning job I would ultimately need would be $350-$400. What a position of power for the owner... if I'm mad and disagree, his people had already left... if I'm a sucker and feel guilty, I pay them three times as much to come back. Now you don't know me, for all you know my house was a sty. I'm here to tell you that the property was vacated of all furniture, and had been preliminary vacuumed and wiped down... there was absolutely nothing "nauseating" about that apartment. Not to mention that I did a walk-through with the guys upon their arrival and was told "oh yeah, no way this takes the full two hours." Not exactly a clear indication of "you're going to have to pay extra for us to touch this filth pit." Evidently one of the men had a problem with cat hair... I'm no career adviser, but might I suggest a new industry? Surely I'm not the only house with pets in this area. Honestly, I admire the owner's intellect. If ever you're left alone by the property owner, just leave without rendering any services and hope they don't feel like taking you to court. Hey, it's tough out there for a small business these days... I get it. But the thing about a small business is that your greatest (arguably imperative) asset is your reputation. I understand that, and I'm not one to tarnish that on a whim. One really great way to ensure that your reputation stays in tact, is to actually render the services you have been paid for... but perhaps I'm allowing my business degree to skew my expectations. I'm sure they will do a great job cleaning your property... permitted that you have no pets and you clean for them before they get there.
The Butler Did It's reply
Not the case at all. The carpets were saturated with animal urine. We completed the light cleaning you requested. The land lords kept adding to the cleaning requests. We called our supervisor and he demanded we left the situation.

The Butler Did It offered me a $65 special for a 1 bdrm apt, light move-out cleaning, but asked me to call to set it up. Upon calling, the representative quoted me $200. I asked why I was quoted $65 for the job, and he replied, "What? I don't know! Why don't you get Sears to do it? Jesus Christ!" and then he hung up on me. This is the most unprofessional treatment I have ever had in my life, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid doing business with The Butler Did It.
The Butler Did It's reply
We quoted the job that we thought was a continuos clean. Speaking on the phone it was a move in/ out clean; which we have a flat fee of $200.
