Mr Hoeing did not complete the work on my deck according to the agreement. I'm currently out a great deal of time and money and my deck is damaged and remains unfinished. He took no precautions to protect my siding or landscaping before power washing or staining, didn't finish sanding the deck before starting to apply the stain, and refused to go over the railing in areas that he either missed or damaged with the sander. We could not come to an agreement on how to complete the project, so the contract has been terminated with Mr Hoeing with us paying him for a portion of his time. I have since had other contractors come out to look at the deck and all agree that Mr Hoeing's work was sub par. I do NOT recommend hiring Mr Hoeing. I did everything that was on the scope that she agreed to word for word. Glenda simply did not understand the process of stripping old stain. there was no damage done by a completely flat sander. the goal was to remove the old stain and I did that with a power washer and sander. I did in fact go over the railing areas where they "claimed" there was missed spots...effectively staining the railing twice. glenda put masking tape and "white chalk" on the areas that she claimed were missed....chalk is a big no no to put on a piece of wood that needs to be stained. I did not get any stain on her siding nor did I damage anything at all...glenda repeatedly fabricated unfinished items and was uncooperative in terms of scheduling. there was a lot of rain and "threats" of rain that could prove disastrous when using oil based stain....again, glenda seemed to think she was the painting expert. She also claimed there were sunny days that I did not come out for "some reason or another"....well the sun did come out after heavy rain and could not return the day after suffering heat stroke....glenda offered no water. On one day the deck was perfectly ready to finish and they refused to allow me to finish because they "thought the deck was too wet" while in fact it was perfectly ready for stain. The deck is not finished because they did not allow me to finish. I received payment for the work I put in and no more. in fact quite a bit less that was due to me. A Sherwin-Williams supervisor saw photos of the project all the way through and overwhelmingly approved of my work. These false claims are simply fabricated and completely untrue. Glenda was rude and offensive in pointing out things that were either not done by me or out of my control. I provided exactly what was on the scope of work I gave her before beginning any work. I do NOT recommend any handymen work for her by any means as she is deceitful and unreasonable with her demands....beware fellow workers. I have pictures also of how the deck was left about a week ago...I have no idea what has been done to it since. There was absolutely nothing to protect the siding or landscaping (I have no idea what this is about) from. Dirt did get on the siding but while power washing I washed down two sides of her house.
Dave was on time, communicated well, did the work and cleaned up after his job; all the things I expected when hiring a contractor. Will hire again.Mar 27, 2018Verified
Dave is "old school" work ethic....prompt, hard working and delivers high quality work. I had many projects to finish in a short period of time. I worked on what I could and gave him a list of the rest. He painted 4 rooms, spackled holes when he found them, hung a huge mirror (48×65), hung blinds, took down shelves, helped us move a few pieces of furniture, offered advice on my projects...all for a reasonable price. I'm on a tight budget - but he was so good that I actually paid him more than his bid because he worked so hard and efficiently. Everything I hoped for when searching for a painter/remodeler. I will use his company again very soon.Aug 2, 2018Verified
Dave did a great job and was very friendly. There was a few minor spots that needed touched up and he took care of it.Jul 14, 2018Verified
Dave built two beautiful raised planter boxes for us. He has a great attention to detail, and struck us as a good guy. We'll be hiring him again when we have future projects.Jun 14, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Each job is unique and bid that way also, but what makes my pricing appealing is that I would often suggest the customer get a quote from another source, such as Home Depot or Lowes or something similar to that, then I offer a much lower price while providing the same if not better quality for the end product.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?meet them in person and view / discuss the project they want. ask any questions that I feel are relevant to the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have many years of experience in doing the exact same things I am advertising for. I currently work for a local painting contractor.
