- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Depending on the size and complexity of the project for residential projects I generally charge 5% to 7% of construction costs for permit drawings. (Industry standard is 8% to 12%). The higher the construction costs the lower the % rate for architectural fees. Commercial/Business projects generally are slightly higher due to more information required to be shown on permit drawings to obtain a building permit. New construction will cost more than remodel of a building due to more work involved.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before taking on a project I would like to meet with the client and discuss their project to gain better understanding of their project needs and requirements. Once hired the schematic design process begins concluding with design approval from client before proceeding with permit/construction drawings.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. I am a licensed Architect in the State of Illinois. I am also LEED certified.
