I am very pleased with the work she did for me although it was difficult; I knew & understood what I wanted but it is not always easy to communicate your thoughts to other people. That was the basis of my project, disseminating a message to the public. It took several communications to desiminate the subject matter because it is confusing and controversial even to me. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?My basic rate is $60/hour. A two-page resume proofread is $10. If content or re-organization is required, we can re-negotiate. If the document is academic or technical writing and requires suggested rewrites (track changes) rather than typo, grammar, and punctuation proofreading, the range can be $75-90+/hr. Consulting/research work ranges $125-135/hr. I also quote by word, by page and by project. The more you tell me about what you need, the better I can understand how much time the project will take.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We begin with a no-risk phone interview, typically as long as 30 minutes. I listen to what the client is looking for and if it's the kind of work I can do. Together we determine if we are a fit.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a PhD in linguistics which means I understand how the English language works from the writer's perspective. From the reader's point of view, is the writing clear? I also have experience making technical writing clear to the average non-technical reader.
