I wish I could give a proper review, but he was not able to install my light. You should know in advance if you need an actual electrician. He was upfront about it once he arrived, but I wish I knew before booking.Sep 14, 2018VerifiedBrian M.'s reply
This customer’s wiring was rigged and required a licensed electrician to correct it. In fact, another lighting circuit failed while she was demonstrating which switches controlled other fixtures. I never proceed with an installation when there is an unfamiliar or nonstandard electrical situation, as in this case. As a courtesy, I did not charge the customer for this job; I asked that she only cover street parking, which was $5.
Brian was very professional and helpful with his opinions when hanging art, mirrors, and pictures in my home. I will be using him in the future for hanging light fixtures. He did an excellent job!May 16, 2018VerifiedBrian M.'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My furniture assembly rate is $60/hour, plus reimbursement for expenses and parking. Wall mounting is $75/hour. Occasionally I will need to rent a tool for specialized work, which falls under expenses. I'm flexible and open to project based pricing.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? An initial conversation is a great way to learn the scope and nature of the project. Sometimes I can provide an accurate estimate based on just that information (for example, "I have three curtain rods to hang, two heavy mirrors, and about a dozen pictures"). Other times I'll need to assess the project first hand before I can determine whether I can complete the task and how long it will take. (For example: "Our garage door locking handle is broken, and the door doesn't slide easily on its tracks. Also, our dishwasher isn't draining completely.")
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I rely on trusted sources such as Time-Life books, This Old House, and personal experience for instruction. My approach is to research multiple sources for a topic, apply the instruction, and draw my own conclusions regarding the best procedure. Then, document that procedure and review it before beginning a job in that area.
