Introduction: Todd Katz is a Golden Apple teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. He is excellent in teaching about ecology, evolution, biology, AP environmental science, as well as helping students design their high school career to accentuated their own talents and passions to get into their top college choices.
Todd focuses primarily on junior high through college bound students to help them with their science fair projects, labs, biology and AP environmental science homework and projects.
He also speciallizes in helping students and teachers m to realize the different opportunities and potential they can utilize to showcase their unique and gifted qualities to the next level educational institutions like magnet schools, selective enrollement schools, and colleges/universities.

Mr Katz sets the classroom experience so that we constantly think we can achieve the impossible. During my time as his student, I was so inspired and motivated by his passion for change, that I reached out to other students across the city from various schools and backgrounds, and together we created the Chicago Students Union, an organization whose mission is to provide a platform for students to present their issues and concerns to the district. Not only does he motivate his students in the classroom, but also young people in general, constantly reminding them that they can achieve so many things with hard work and dedication. I dreamed of going to South Africa ever since my freshman year, and after numerous Tamales sales, fundraisers, and endless support from Mr Katz, I was able to visit and learn more about Cape Town and Johannesburg hands-on.

Mr. Katz's biology class was the best experience in all of high school. I had transferred schools and was mildly disappointed at the lack of challenge in my new classes, yet also slightly terrified of being in Mr.Katz's class, which, according to former students (following their "oofs" and extreme excitement for me) was supposed to be both the best and the worst time of my life. Well I can't say that the latter was true in any respect. I looked forward to biology every day of the week and the challenges Mr. Katz offered, along with his encouragement, did nothing but motivate me to reach higher. He goes out of bounds to inspire and motivate his students in not just science, but community, art, politics, really everything and anything. There was not a single time when I doubted the reason for the work in Mr. Katz's class. I didn't even have to hope, I just knew that something great would come out of it, and I was never wrong once. I sadly could only take his biology class for one year, but I continued to see Mr. Katz in his ecology club. He exhibits the same amount of passion all the way from his 8 a.m. classes to the last minute of eco club. Sorry for the cliche words, but it is impossible to review this teacher otherwise as he not only lives up to but far surpasses the "cliche". As a recently graduated senior, I can say that I will miss Mr. Katz like I will miss my closest friends.

Mr.Katz is the best teacher I have ever had. Being in his class taught me much more than Biology. I developed a concern for the pressing matters of our environment and more conscientious about my food choices. Not only did Mr.Katz teach us lifelong lessons, but he also cares about his students. He forms friendships with them, which is somethings that most teachers do not do. One thing that I can say stands out the most is the Mycelia Project. Mr.Katz had his students make a semester long project that helps their communities and our environment. These projects can make a monument outs impact on our world and I think it's amazing that he has freshmen do this. Overall, Mr.Katz is the best teacher anyone could have.

Todd Katz was a fantastic mentor. He guided me through my first year of teaching, helping me develop new and creative ways to assess students and plan lessons. To this day, his lessons and strategies are still some of the most interesting and engaging I've encountered for both students and teachers alike. He taught me these strategies over the course of one year, and always with a positive attitude. This can be seen through his relationship with students, who are always reverant and engrossed in his classroom. I highly recommend him for any needs or concerns you have in the realm of education.

He is a great teacher in and out of the traditional classroom setting. His style of teaching alows him to be nearly obsolete by the end so that his students are able to do whatever they set their minds to on their own.
