Emilie Vukovich Makeup Artistry
About this pro
I did not see a wand -she was just absolutely amazing -helped prep me for our live event at Late Night Chicago… She was aware of the lighting and the angles and made me look natural yet gave me a beautiful finish to boost my confidence and just focus on what was really important - can't wait to work with her again ❤️Jun 7, 2018
Emilie is amazing! She is punctual, communicative, and extremely professional. She uses only the highest quality products, and creates picture perfect results. A lot of MUA’s are talented, but Emilie goes above and beyond to not only make you look beautiful, but she has an incredible ability to help you feel beautiful as well. I’ve hired her not only for my makeup, but as the set MUA for our guests on the talk show I work on. Having her as a part of the team has been an honor, and I cannot recommend her more!Jun 4, 2018
Working with Emilie was a dream! I can’t say enough great things about my experience. I was extremely nervous about my makeup for my wedding day, but after having a trial run with Emilie all my worries went away. She was responsive to what I wanted my makeup to look like and exceeded my expectations. I’m looking forward to the next time I work with Emilie!Jun 2, 2018
She’s fantastic at what she does. Emilie is passionate and loves helping others feel their best. Highly recommended for any beauty need.Jun 1, 2018
Emily truly has talent. For someone who has struggled with skin issues for a long time, I find the getting my makeup done can be a huge burden - makeup artists don't cover it well, cover it too much etc. - but Emily did an incredible job and made me feel beautiful at the end. I already can't wait for her to do it next time!. I only wish I could keep it for a week instead of just a day!Jun 1, 2018

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? While I do have flat rates and pricing for my services, every type of makeup look is assessed on multiple aspects (time, products used, etc.). I am always happy to work out whatever I can with clients when it comes to payment. I do provide discounts for client referrals, and I also actively post any current promotions/discounts on my social media accounts. Even if you have the slightest hesitation, please contact me, and I'm sure something can be worked out.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When it comes to new clients, the first thing I do is try to get to know more about the client's skin. I have paperwork that must be filled out in order to ensure that there is no misunderstandings. This is especially critical with regards to allergies and reactions. I also like to ask the client how they see their skin, such as skin type (normal, oily, combo, sensitive, etc.), and trends with their skin (reactions to certain products, the weather, etc.). Once we are past the point of the basic skin information, the next most critical part of the appointment/consultation is getting to know the client. What type of makeup do they usually wear? Are there colors, or looks, that they don't like to wear? If so, what is the reason? Aside from making the client's look seem "flawless", I also need to make sure the look fits the client wearing it. Thanks to my training, it's habitual for me to check in with the client throughout the application to ensure his/her comfort and satisfaction with the look.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?In 2010, I found one of the greatest inspirations in the beauty industry: Kandee Johnson. I saw that she was holding one of her final "Glaminar" classes in Chicago, and begged my parents to buy me on of the tickets. I told them it was a chance of a lifetime, and, let me tell you, it truly was. I learned so much in that one day alone; about makeup as an art, makeup as a business, and how to use makeup to express yourself for the rest of your life. Kandee chose me as the full face model for the final demonstration, and it was one the greatest hands on experiences I've had to this day. From there, I worked even more on my portfolio with paid work through family and friends. This allowed me to check one box on my makeup dream bucket list: sign up for MAC Cosmetics Pro. I had the privilege of being taught by some of the greatest senior M.A.C. artists in the country. Each workshop included demos, tips, and the ability to talk one-on-one with the artist(s) about products, techniques, and personalized tips. Some of these workshops include: Color Theory, Highlight/Contour, Defining Style/Trends, and Halloween/Special FX. In January of 2017, I took the next step of my practice by enrolling at Make Up First School of Makeup Artistry. In March of 2018, I graduated and became a certified freelance makeup artist. The certification program is approved through the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and contains credit hours towards the Illinois Barber Act. I also made sure to become certified in airbrush and bridal makeup prior to my graduation at the school. I'm fortunate enough to have had amazing instructors and artists to learn from and network with, which is why I will continue to attend workshops at Make Up First for my career.
