- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing for tax services is based on complexity of the return and my "involvement" as preparer. For a "best guess" estimate, feel free to send a prior year return along and I'll apply it to my form-based price list. Bookkeeping services are priced based, again, on involvement but range between $1-1.50 per transaction. Other filings such as quarterly payroll, annual payroll, monthly/quarterly sales tax, etc are all "a la carte". For bookkeeping package pricing, send average statement volume on all bank/credit card statements as well as needs related to the aforementioned periodic report filings, and I'll get you a quote back ASAP! For business clients, there are discounts available for individual tax return preparation. Be sure to ask about it!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?During an initial interview, we'll discuss a prospect's needs and whether my skills match. Let's face it, not all are a match - and I'm the first one to suggest another avenue if it's not a match (I do have folks I can refer in certain areas of expertise). Once we determine a match, we dive directly into formalizing and detailing the needs into an understanding, complete with expectations and driven down to the detailed timing of when things should take place, etc. Periodically, we'll circle around to make sure both sides feel that the expectations are being met, and revise anything we deem necessary to make the relationship work better.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M focused on Operations Management. I then earned a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University focused in Finance and Operations. Realizing at the time I only needed a few classes in order to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam, I enrolled at the University of North Texas to take 4-5 accounting classes, then sat for and passed the CPA exam.
