ALL MY SONS MOVING & STORAGE
About this pro
First, the moving crew was a great team of hard-working individuals how had great attitudes and work ethic. This review does not concern them, nor their work. However, when we decided to hire All My Sons, the estimator came to the house to go over what we needed packed and moved. We went through the home in detail and I was very clear to say what we needed help packing and moving. Under the assumption that I was clear, we were blindsided after the crew had helped us pack and move most of our house (not everything) and our price was nearly DOUBLE what was quoted. I was under the assumption, from the estimator, that the price he quoted me would not exceed that amount. At no time did anyone from All My Sons let us know that the job was beyond the scope of what was quoted to give us the chance to discuss the quote/price/or our opportunity to pack items ourselves without being charged, until they had already packed the moving truck and were parked outside of our new home. When we spoke with the supervisor, he checked with the estimator and offered us no assistance to remedy the situation. He said that the estimator told him that All My Sons would be doing no packing. Which is completely false. Even my job request on Thumbtack included packing. In addition, we heard from sources that this was not the first time this particular estimator has done this to clients. This is infuriating. WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW "I NEED YOUR CREW TO PACK THIS" WAS NOT CLEAR. We have now tried to get in touch with Stephen, one of the owners, and have not heard back. This is CLASSIC dishonesty. And while, we are understanding of making sure a company gets paid for the work that they complete, we should have been notified UP FRONT that the scope of work had changed. Not when the crew had to hold our belongings ransom in the truck until we signed and paid double what we were expecting. We are truly dissatisfied with the integrity of some of the staff at All My Sons and are waiting to hear how they will remedy the situation. Again, the actual crew was competent and friendly. They should be the ones that provide estimates because they actually know what goes into moving an entire home. We will not be using All My Sons ever again in the future for fear that they will be dishonest with us.May 3, 2016VerifiedSTEPHEN S.'s reply
AMS does not provide Not to exceed estimates. second like all my estimates are hourly based and the final price is based on actual time, materials and fuel Which is exactly what the legal agreement stated and was agreed by and between AMS and Laura. The estimated amount discussed was only labor without packing services and upon the completion of the job it was clear the actual time is what reflected the amount of work to be completed by AMS. The Team is the best in the business and worth every cent as you agreed they did a hell off a job and that is how they get paid by the hour. Every day AMS does local business and the average local move without packing is $1500. A full pack & load is easily $3000. Numbers don't lie and we always bill by the hour to keep it plain and simple without confusion. The TEAM is a direct extension of its leadership and to suggest otherwise would be absolutely false. AMS has been totally transparent and will continue to provide a high level of service for its clients. As far as using the words "hold belongings ransom" is another example of an attempt to defame my family business to make a point. As it says in your agreement and was confirmed via phone, email and upon arrival the morning of the move that payment will be collected upon arrival at destination prior to unloading which is common practice, company policy and has been done this way for 2+ decades and is supported by all state and federal law so to suggest that AMS did something unlawful or without cause is once again a defamation of my families core values and business practices. Making unfounded statements and accusations to reduce the cost of your moving services after acknowledging the superb performance in the field which is what you are paying for and assume the same for LESS is just a myth. AMS invests a significant amount of time, training , grooming and teaching its employees packing, loading, unloading and installation skills as well as safe practices and customer service skills. AMS is not a day labor company that hires anyone and sends them to your home we build champions and we charge a reasonable industry rate for our services and to suggest that we need to deceive the public to earn your business is simply not true in fact you hired AMS for its level of service and from what you said you received just that. A contract is binding and should be respected which is what Integrity stands for. The only integrity in question is what the agreement says vs what is being said after the fact. AMS will always honor its agreement and will maintain its credibility by doing so.
I was very pleased with All My Sons Moving and Storage willingness to help, store my furniture, make adjustments to meet my change of move schedule, and their personnel are professional. They do a great job. Their shop always welcomed us when we walked in, took my messages, and passed those on to the manager/owner. They were also flexible, when they could be. Schedules dictate and so do customers, so they kept their word to service their customers. The cost was fair. It helped with insurance to know and see the facility. Insurance company wanted to know if the building was enclosed and secure and how did I know it was secure. It was all indoors with a chain link locked fence. The best thing that happened in my case was the staff was keen when it came to the wrong container arrived. They noticed that it was not the right container and nothing matched up on the paper work (list of items) that I got from my mover from Hawaii. They caught it early. It could have been a disaster had they emptied the entire container. Thank goodness they caught it. My advice to anyone moving, no matter the company, would be to get a copy of the list of items from the mover, and have that in hand. Then make sure that the company has that list, if doing an international move like we did. The truck driver is supposed to have it, but the truck driver (in my case) did not even have a copy of it.Apr 26, 2016
