The Rational Dog
About this pro
Sarah Roberts, SATS certified in Perception Modification and Bridge and Target Training, with an MS in education and years of experience as a special ed teacher, is one of the most talented, effective teachers/trainers I know. She is also a pleasure to deal with. She is able to train demanding and difficult animals, for a wide range of applications, and she is an outstanding teacher of owners as well. I have mentored Sarah in her SATS certifications and I am proud to have her as a trainer.Apr 1, 2016

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My private lessons are $100/hour, with the option to purchase a package of 6 lessons for $500. My Board and Train package is a 14 day program, and costs $1500. Included in this are basic manners, generalizing those behaviors to new places and people, and working with any specific issues that you and your dog have. My group classes are $65/session. Each session is 6 weeks long and covers basic manners such as loose leash walking, come when called, stay, and more.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When working with a new client, it is so important to find out what makes your situation unique and special. What do you love most about your dog? What are some behaviors that need some work? What training methods have you tried before? When I know all I can about your relationship with your dog, then I can start to help you improve the communication and respect between the two of you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been training recreationally for over 17 years, and professionally for 8. I have worked in venues such as obedience and manners, agility, man trailing, and solving reactivity issues. I am a certified SATS trainer, and primarily use this behaviorally and cognitively based technique when working with dogs in all issues. I am also a certified teacher with an MS in Special Education, and have a great deal of experience in teaching you how to teach your dog.
