Introduction: Shannon Spruiell, mural artist, currently lives and works in the DFW area in Texas. Graduating from Texas Tech University in May 2016 with a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting, also with a minor in Psychology.
Dr. Terry Johnson of Pediatric Associates hired her to paint murals in his exam rooms at his location in Wichita Falls, Texas. These murals were all created with the idea that they would bring smiles to children’s faces and help them relax upon entering the rooms where they would see the doctor. Since high school, the primary focus of her art in college was dedicated to the uses of art therapy and art used for healing, especially for traumatized children.
After graduating college in May 2016, Shannon was commissioned to paint murals in 23 patient rooms in the brand new expansion building for the same Pediatric office.
With this recognition, Wichita Falls Independent School District contracted Shannon to paint murals in their public schools on several occasions.
Dr. Perez at Stone Lake Dental hired her to paint his children’s waiting room.
A non-profit children’s advocacy center in Wichita Falls, “Patsy’s House,” employed her to paint a mural just outside of the interviewing room.
Texas Oncology in Fort Worth enlisted her to paint an inspirational mural for cancer patients in the radiation therapy center.
The best part of this job is seeing the impact of the finished product on its viewers. That moment is what makes it all worth it.
