FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For long-term clients + clients who need multiple hours per week, discounts can be made (especially if there is marginal travel involved and their schedule is flexible). My pricing is set on an hourly rate (mostly for people who are trying to strengthen their own skills, whether it be conversational or written). For longer/ shorter, singular projects, pricing can be adjusted for a lump sum re: page count depending on how much research is needed on my end to make your product look good. I will always be fair about the time I've spent.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually a conversation prior to our first official meeting (free of charge) to establish your goals/ your project. Then I try and prepare content or materials that would be useful by our first check in/ meeting to make sure we had a place from which to leap. I usually ask for sample sets of what you are working on (syllabus, mission statement, cover letter, etc.) so I can get a better idea of where you're headed. If appropriate, I try and have a timeline of completion or check-in established by our next contact point, provided we have agreed to work with one another! I try to be as respectful of your time as possible and come prepared with individualized plans. I want you to get the most for your time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 10 years of teaching experience (mostly high school, some middle school and one year of elementary). I have also taught college writing comp courses for the CUNY network in New York City. I was an English department chair at two campuses and I am currently the library and media specialist at a high school in the metroplex. I also taught and am certified to teach AP Language and AP Literature by College Board. I have also taught SAT prep courses and LSAT prep courses for the verbal and analytical portions of the exam. Writing is my strongest skill, so regardless of the project, I can usually put together a plan of action whether it's for a student or someone else's content (ex: ghostwriting, thesis editing, grant writing, campaign writing, etc.) I recently wrote several speeches and campaign letters, which resulted in a win for my candidate in a local mayoral election in the metroplex.
