- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Our diagnostic call is usually $50-75 based on location and distance from our home or our scheduled call path. Many times we can resolve issues as well as determining what’s wrong within that first hour at no additional cost. Otherwise, we’ll discuss with the customer what’s involved in their repair and what the total cost will be. We offer lots of feedback and options. Our hourly rate is $75 on site and we don’t charge for long wait times to add or upgrade software— typically if something will run for an hour or more, we’ll go to another call and return to resume rather than sit and stare at, wasting your money... We only charge when the job is done and the customer is happy. That has earned us exponential growth and grassroots referrals!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We do an onsite assessment of their systems and usage as well as a short interview to prioritize issues and potential problems. We can usually provide diagnostic info within 15-30 minutes and most of our repair work takes 1-2 hours, depending on severity. We triage business needs and respond to emergencies first and our customers respect and appreciate that flexibility. We’re frequently able to respond the same day or within 24 hours and we come to you!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?3 years IT professional with Stetson University supporting faculty, admin, students and staff followed by 15 years with a large local law firm supporting up to 100 staff and attorneys. Created Backpack Software to publish my creative work in 2013 and added computer support services for business later that year. My wife came to work for Backpack with me in 2015 and we love the flexibility and independence of owning our own business.
