Made a mess in my house by tearing down the ceiling...took an extra week to finish and did bad job just to rush and finish...then after one worker wasn't paid and came by and cut my AC unit line...now I have to have the unit replaced because of all the oil that sprayed into it. Do not hire them.

    I warned you!!!!!!
We had Jarod put a humidifier in our furnace. After 8 hours it did not work and caused our heat to come out until our house was an inferno. He came back and said he fixed it but it was no different when he left. Come to find out it also made our air conditioner to fail. Our house is brand new so we know it was due to his work. He refuses to return my calls to rectify this problem. Do not hire this guy you will be sorry and in the end ripped off as we were!!!!!!!!!

    Competent bath fan install
Kodiak installed two bath fans in our existing 1950's house. We are pleased with the final installation, though it was a bit of a process getting to this point. No fault of theirs that we had some questionable insulation and a double ceiling to deal with. But I do wish coordination between the owner, Jarrod and the field guys who initially came to do the work was a little more thorough.

    Lack of commitment/communication
Over a month and a half ago a very nice man came to my house, worked for a while on my freezer, walked away with a part, charged me $70, and has had no communication with me since.I am completely fed up as I have contacted Jarod over and over again and get the same response, we are still waiting to hear back from our supplier. The lack of communication is extremely frustrating, and the in-completion of the task infuriating.

Do not use Kodiak in Denver
Do not use Kodiak, they are not licensed in Denver County, permits were not pulled to do my job. AC installed will not ever work as Kodiak installed the wrong coil, in the wrong direction, wiring and installation are completely lacking in quality and finish. Potential code violations and fire hazards due to their work. Communication and promptness in trying to fix the issues with Jarrod were difficult and untimely at best. Now I am left with a bill almost double the equipment and initial installation to repair they job Kodiak and Jarrod did. Stay away from Kodiak

    Be cautious
Poor Installation quality, lack of communication and following through. If I had to do it over I would go with someone else.

Worst experience ever- 2 1/2 months over due!
I just had the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. I hired Jared last October to install three air conditioning air handler units in a three unit building that I am renovating and managing. He said he would start on a certain day and then took several days to start and several more days to get all of his materials to the job site. He put in writing that the job would be finished on November 8 last year saying it would take about one week. Then for days and days he was a no show, then days became weeks and weeks became a month. He would actually come to the job at about noon pick up some tools and leave and explained he had to go to another job in the middle of our job that was already one month beyond the completion date and nowhere near completion. He gave excuse after excuse after excuse for not finishing, he would come sometimes at three or four clock, work 1 hour and leave and not be back for two or three more days. I repeatedly called his office and his cell phone and texted him and I would never get a response for literally days at a time meanwhile my project is at a standstill for months. The compressor units outside were all uneven and not bolted down and I had to fix them. (pic 3). I specifically told him not to drill out the side of the house but along the chimney so the line sets would not be visible and he immediately drilled out the side causing us to patch the brick and have an unsightly patch. (pic 4). The cooling units are rated at 220v but he installed all three switches rated at 110v which would have caused an immediate fire and an electrician had to correct all three units because he chose not to do it himself. He also went into the electrical circuit panel, changed wiring and even cut some wiring making incorrect assumptions about the electrical work which the electrician had to come back again and correct. He also turned on our other shut off circuit breakers and the electrician got a 220 volt shock when he was wiring the range because Jared failed to turn the breaker back off and actually chuckled when I told him that he literally could have killed the guy because of his carelessness and he just made a feeble excuse! Now we are into January, 2 ½ months after his estimated completion and still nowhere near finished and none of the unit’s work properly. He finally came and said they were all working and left when in fact none of the three units work they all had serious issues! It took him another week and a half just to show back up with someone that can show him how to wire them correctly, actually telling me that he’s “kind of busy and can’t get at it right away” while my project is still being delayed. He also left all of his trash and boxes all over the yard and I found the registration and warranty information lying next to the curb soaked with rain from the night before and when I told him about that he just laughed and said “oh I guess I forgot to put those inside.” (pic 2). This guy doesn’t even know the difference between 110 and 220 volt wiring; the electrician had to come and correct his errors and school him on and proper wiring procedures and he had to have two different people come back with him to help him wire the units to run and shut off properly. He blamed it on "bad thermostats that were new!) He literally could have killed the electrician by a leaving the wrong breaker on without telling him and he literally could have caused a fire that destroyed the house by putting in the wrong gauge wire. He left the copper linesets laying across the sidewalk for over a week and I warned him they are a danger and could get stolen. He was a no show for a whole week and sure enough they got stolen and I had to repair vandalism damage. His final day on the job when everything actually worked was January 22nd 2017 when the job was in writing to be completed on November 8, 2016. He has caused me literally thousands of dollars by delaying this project for over two months when it should have been done in November. Then he had the nerve to blame me and other people on the job because of his delays when we had to go around fixing all kinds of his errors and completing all sorts of his work left undone so we could keep going. He forgot to install 2 vents, forgot to attach 2 others, some were uneven, one unit was never sealed up. (pic 1). This guy is a total menace and he is completely dangerous; he has no clue about wiring and he doesn’t listen to what you tell him. He is the most incompetent and unprofessional contractor I have ever had the displeasure to work with.

    Water Heater Installation or Replacement
    Verified Review
Good Company but a Little Messy
I was very please with the attentiveness from Jarrod. I originally had them quote me on running gas and intake/exhaust lines for my new tank-less water heater. Their pricing was great compared to some other quotes that I received. I then had a quote for a new high efficiency furnace, and again it was cheaper than most quotes I was getting. I picked these guys based on pricing. The water heater was installed and they ran the lines and did a nice job with that. My only complaint is that they didn't caulk the outside connections (vents outside), which would allow water into the house during snow/rain storms. When I asked them to do it they wanted to come out when it was 20 deg outside. You can't caulk at that temperature so that is part of the reason why they don't have 5 stars. Another problem was that they left a gaping hole to the outside that caused major heat loss. I had to use some gap foam to fill it. Was very surprised they left that big of a hole, open. I had them do the furnace for me and it took 2.5 days to get it done. Luckily my wife and I didn't live in the house or we'd have been without a furnace. I am not sure if they knew that we also had a propane fireplace upstairs and a wood burning stove downstairs, but nonetheless, it took a while to install it. I wasn't super impressed with the quality of the installation (messy) but they got the job done and the furnace is working great now. Lastly I had them install my whole-house humidifier. It was a bit pricey for everything I had just done with them but they helped me out a little bit. They finished that job quickly and the humidifier is working great. Overall I would recommend these guys. Another reason for the 4 star review is because they left trash in the basement and it was a total mess by the time they were done. I had to do all the cleaning of the floors. They removed the old furnace, again leaving parts in my yard (trash), instead of taking everything. Other than that, they did a good job. They also came back after the job was completed and caulked the outside, as soon as it was warm enough.

Dustin, I appreciate that you entrusted all this work to us and I apologize for the disorganization and mess that was left behind. We are a small business going through some growing pains with some installers not being as they presented themselves on their resumes. Still, this is no excuse for the mess that was left behind. I should have followed up personally to make sure that the work area was left clean, orderly, and all the work was completed as scheduled. I am grateful for your patience and understanding. If you ever need any HVAC services in the future, I hope you will once again put your trust in us and I promise to give you the best price and discounts that I can to show our appreciation for you business.

    Doesn't know boilers
We needed help with a three year old boiler that wasn't working in a small apartment building. He replaced part after part over a series of 4-5 days because he wasn't fixing it. This was super inconvenient and expensive. Nice enough guy, but really doesn't seem to know boilers.
    Jarrod H. Jan 11, 2017

Lauren, I apologize again if you feel I was replacing parts that were not necessary. This boiler was having a lot of problems. I fixed each problem in turn. I felt bad for the inconvenience on your part so I did not even charge you for all the labor that I put into it. I never received payment for the last couple invoices I sent you and was battling with you for 2 months to pay the invoices. Finally I had to threaten to send you to collections to get a response out of you. Your response was a hint that you would give me a bad review if I did not discount these invoices. I explained that I did not add on any late fees and did not even charge you for all the labor that was performed and I could not discount these invoices any more. You finally paid the invoices this morning and carried out on your threat. I apologize that you are unhappy with how things turned out, but each time I went out there I fixed the problem that was the issue at the time, but this boiler had multiple issues. I worked hard to ensure that this was taken care of.

Duct and Vent Installation or Removal
    Verified Review
    Trust But Verify
Installed bathroom light/fan, roof vent and ducting. There were several things that were issues. The technician was late by more than two hours the first day with no notification and late about an hour the second day. After the second day I was told the work was finished and so I inspected. The duct was not connected to the roof vent and the wiring was set outside the fan box, likely due to the tech not wiring the fan properly initially (fan was not initially tied to the electrical and had to be connected properly after the box was in place). There was also no question to me as to what type of vent I wanted on the roof and only after discussion with the tech about the slope of the roof was I shown what they intended to install. I wanted a low profile rectangular vent to match the one for the other bathroom but that was not what was brought by the tech and he had to go to the supply house the next day to get one. I did send photos of the work that was incomplete and Kodiak sent out another tech who was on time and was able to get everything finished. The price was reasonable for the work they completed and it did get done after the second technician finished the work. This was also one of the few contractors I contacted that was willing to install a roof vent (both electrical and roofing contractors told me they could not due to liability for leaks) and that portion of the work appeared to be done well. I likely won't use Kodiak again, but wouldn't say avoid them completely, they had a decent price for the work that was completed though not in a timely manner.
    Jarrod H. Jan 7, 2017

I do apologize for the manner in which this work was done. This is not how Kodiak HVAC operates. The technician that originally installed this exhaust fan is no longer employed by Kodiak HVAC. I do not tolerate this kind of unprofessional work from my employees and apologize that you were the recipient of such work. I know you said that you would not use Kodiak HVAC in the future, but if you would consider it, I am offering you a free furnace tune-up or A/C check up. This offer does not expire. I will make a note on your customer profile if you ever are in need of these services and would like to give us a second chance. Thank you for trusting us with this service and hope we can regain your trust at some future date.

no such thing as free filter
Calling ahead doesn't excuse the fact that technician showed up 7 hours after the scheduled appointment time. He overcharged me for the 15 minutes he spent cleaning up the furnace but gave me a "free" filter replacement for the filter that was 2 months old.
    Jarrod H. Dec 5, 2016

I understand your frustration with rescheduling to a later time. unfortunately I had a technician call in sick and my workload doubled. I called you as soon as I found out. I charged you the price I quoted you for a furnace tune-up and cleaning which does not include the cost of a new filter as not all furnaces have disposable filters. when I saw your filter was very dirty I replaced it with a new filter that had never been used before and comped you the cost of the filter to help make up for the scheduling error that happens when i found myself short-staffed. I am very sorry that you were disappointed with our service.

    Ethical/Reasonably Priced
We recently had granite installed in our kitchen and had to remove our gas cooktop. When it was replaced we could smell gas underneath the cabinets. The original plumber said all of the connections were tight but we could still smell gas. I called Kodiak HVAC and they sent out a technician. The technician said that the connections weren't tight at all so tightened everything up and we no longer have any gas smell. He was very efficient and friendly. It's hard to find a reliable, ethical plumber these days. Kodiak was very reasonably priced. I will definitely use them again for any future problems.

Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We take the customer's information and get information on the problem they are experiencing. We pride ourselves in scheduling customers within 24 hours of first contact. At the appointment we will diagnose the problem and provide the customer with an estimate for the work that needs to be done. If a return trip is needed, and the customer approves the estimate, another appointment will be scheduled to complete repairs. If parts are readily available, the work can be done the same day. Upon completion of work, payment will be required either by cash, check, or credit card.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Redstone College in March of 2010 with an Associates in Occupational Studies, specializing in HVAC/R. While at school, I also received my Universal EPA Certification. In 2012, while working at Lennox NAS, I qualified and received my NATE Certification. I have worked for several companies that provided me with good training on Heating, Cooling, and Refrigeration Equipment.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
During 2008's recession, I was working for a company as a Lead Shipping Clerk, when management informed us that they were going to start laying off staff and downsizing operations. As I researched different career paths, I thought I would love doing HVAC. I enrolled and later graduated from school with an Associates Degree and have been working in the field ever since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with both residential and commercial customers.
