With over 15 years of experience as a professional dog trainer, including nearly eight years in animal shelter behavior, owner Ursa Acree has worked with nearly every imaginable behavior problem. Her goal is to help owners build a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and boundaries between themselves and their dogs. She loves seeing the "light bulb" moments when everything really clicks, and people and pets start understanding each other! As an animal welfare advocate, she also wants to help prevent dogs from being surrendered to shelters due to behavior problems. Her methods are no-nonsense, easy to understand and follow, and designed to get results so you can let go of frustration and enjoy your relationship with your dog.

Canis Major is an awesome training company. It's owner, Ursa, does her best to stay up to date with the latest science and developments in dog behavior and positive reinforcement. She really cares about the well being of the dogs and people she works with, and is very compassionate. I would reccomend this company to anyone!

Since working with Canis Major, my dogs have learned basic manners and tricks and I have learned ways to reduce barrier aggression and reactivity as well as ways to effectively communicate with my dogs so they understand a clear and kind message. I would never consider using anything other than positive reinforcement, especially since Canis Major has proven it works!
