Introduction: I have been playing the cello for over 30 years, have a bachelor's degree in cello performance, and run a successful teaching studio with over 45 students.
As much as I enjoy playing the cello, I am called to share my love and knowledge of music with my students. I believe that every person can benefit from learning to play an instrument; and that doing so will improve the quality of their everyday life. VIRTUAL CELLO LESSONS
I customize lesson plans for each student to ensure every lesson is a positive experience. Curriculum is taught using different method books, and styles of music tailored to the students interests and goals. Lessons focus on good physical technique, practice techniques, and performance habits. As well as basic music theory skills, music history, and ethnomusicology.

Chandrika Prem has been playing cello since 1990 at age 9, and instantly fell in love with the instrument. Music has been a core part of her life ever since. She earned a Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance in May of 2016 from Metropolitan State University of Denver where she studied under Dr. Charles Lee, who has been principal cellist of the Boulder Philharmonic orchestra since 1998. She has a successful music studio, teaching private lessons in cello, violin, viola, piano, early music education, and music theory; is the co-owner/business manager and cellist for the Mile High String quartet; and contracts freelance projects in all genres of music and theater.
Prem’s past playing experience consists of solo and chamber performances, participation in several community orchestras including the Front Rang Youth Symphony, Symphony in the Vail Valley, Centennial Philharmonic, Jefferson Symphony, and principle cellist for the MSU Denver Symphony Orchestra. Her contract work includes private events and theater productions throughout the Denver Metro Area. She has also played cello and sang with many local bands in genres including blues, bluegrass, singer songwriter, experimental electronic, and indie rock.
Prem’s personal pursuits have included raising her now adult son Alex. Becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist, and co-owning/managing Karuna Yoga and Wellness Center. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Action through the Arts from Metropolitan State University of Denver and worked in fundraising, marketing, grant writing, and IT for arts based and human service non-profits for 10 years (2001 to 2011).
