FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Make sure you understand the small print when hiring a photographer. Here's mine! 1) I never watermark images. You are paying for a product to market yourself - not me! 2) Unless otherwise stated, I deliver both web and print quality files and a release to print. I don't hold people ransom and force them to use my printing services Make sure you always know what a photographer is offering for the money. Sometimes you can get stuck paying a fee for a session, then have to spend more to actually get the images the way you want them! One of the reasons I'm able to keep my prices down is that I have my own studio and don't have to pay rental fees. It's a custom 400 sq/ft space build in my home packed with the latest studio technology and innovations. Having a studio in my home is a lifestyle choice, but I wouldn't use it if it compromised a project. All of the studio imagery in my portfolio is shot there - and it's a no compromise space that many people prefer to rent-by-the-hour commercial studios.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to discuss the goals of a shoot and put my marketing hat on to make sure that these are being achieved. I send a digital contract for signature so that we're both on the same page about expectations. I like to shoot! The actual shoot is the fun part, so I don't usually care about number of outfits, or try to cram a shoot into a short period of time. A typical shoot is more than one hour and less than three depending on the scope.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been shooting my whole life. I've had a long career in tech and between positions spent my days taking photos. One month turned into two, two months turned into three and I woke up one day realizing that I was living my dream and haven't turned back.
