Introduction: I have been tutoring since my sophomore year of college, when I became a writing center tutor. It was through my experience on the writing center crew, working with my peers in all disciplines of college writing, that I discovered my passion for education. Soon after, I took a class that began to shape the experiential tutoring philosophy that I continue to develop with each tutoring session and with the help of each individual learner with whom I have the privilege of working. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College and have worked as a writing and mathematics tutor for five years. I am so excited to hear from new learners who want some encouragement in loving their own learning. My math tutoring specialties include Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Calculus. I work with all levels and disciplines of writing and especially love to work with writers having trouble getting started. I really believe in the one-on-one format of tutoring and giving learners a break from the passivity of classroom learning. In my experience, a tutoring session gives learners the opportunity to discover and create knowledge rather than simply memorize facts.

Taylore has edited many of my papers during my junior and senior years of college, and I feel like my writing style and quality have improved because of the feedback that she has provided. Taylore’s editing style is helpful because she not only makes you aware of any grammar errors, MLA formatting errors, and stylistic errors, but she also helps you by providing examples of how you need to or can change something in your paper. Essentially, instead of only telling you that something needs to be changed, Taylore helps you figure out a way that you can change it and guides you through the entire process. She is always willing to answer your questions and work through a problem with you, no matter how long it takes. Taylore is honest, yet gentle, and you will leave an editing session with her feeling like you can improve your current paper, and that you are ready to write an even better paper next time.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a base rate that I charge, but the rate will vary depending on how far I am travelling to meet with a student.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, my first meeting with a student will be a time for assessment and getting-to-know-you. Especially if a parent is present, this will also be the time I will go over my cancellation policies and expectations of both parties.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with sixth grade math students to seniors writing their final college thesis. I have worked with many levels of mathematics and I have worked with all sorts of writing disciplines.
