Introduction: As your personal Wardrobe Stylist, my aim is for you to love what you wear. I will share tips on what to purchase, where best to find it, and how to wear it best. Whether you’re looking for a wardrobe makeover, a bit of a wardrobe-tweaking, or the signature “you” look for a special occasion – I’m here to help. If you are planning a vacation, I can assist you in the perfect wardrobe, and even pack for you. I can organize your closet and drawers, reduce clutter, and make getting dressed much less stressful for you. Perhaps you have some great clothes, & simply want to know what additional pieces would help pull it all together. I have dressed everyone from A-list actors on film sets, to friends and neighbors who asked me for advice. I love it all, it’s my job *and* my passion. I realize style can be very personal, & I kindly but candidly help you “figure it all out” to feel more confident when you dress for the day or night, and make dressing more fun. Together we can personalize some looks for you, from casual to snazzy, without breaking the bank.
~First, together we will analyze your wardrobe!
This vital step will help us to achieve a wardrobe full of go-to pieces that fit your body, your life, and most importantly, your style. I will come to your home, and together we go through and assess your current wardrobe. I will have you try on some of your existing clothes for a “fitting”, so I can visualize how clothes can best flatter you. We will determine what stays, which pieces to let go of, what pieces that may need a trip to a tailor, and what pieces you will need to purchase to create a well-developed wardrobe. We will utilize and give new life to your existing clothes, prior to hitting any stores or websites. After I better understand your style & what looks best on you, we are prepared to build on what you already own.
~Second, I/we shop, thrift, place orders, visit the tailor…
This step is up to you, whether you want to join me as I shop, or have me come to your home with some options to consider. You set the spending budget, and you decide what we keep & add to your transforming wardrobe.
~Lastly, we pull it all together!
You’ll be trying on the looks we have chosen, and I will assist you in learning what to combine and how to accessorize to make new and exciting looks every day, that you feel great wearing. We will take pictures with your camera or phone, so you have plenty of wardrobe photos to refer to. A bit like playing dress-up, we plan and coordinate dozens of head-to-toe looks to prepare you for stress-free wardrobe decisions.
A little about me:
I am a union costumer for film, television, commercials, and music videos. I worked my way through the ranks from the girl who puts all of the clothes on hangers and lugs them around sets on huge racks for the Designer, to being the Designer myself. I loved every bit of it, every step of my career path. I’m a native Michigander, currently living in an historic home in Detroit with my fiancé, who also works in the film business. I have 3 beautiful grown daughters.
My personal style is ever-changing, as my moods (and the seasons!) are as well. I’ve always been a sucker for the 1940s, and am a big fan of vintage (I have a company called Retro Girls here in Detroit!). I am an expert thrifter and very much enjoy repurposing clothes, and tailoring a beloved piece to make it the best it can be. You’d be surprised how affordable a great tailor can be! I love classic, simple, clean looks as well as the brave, eclectic, artistic expression that fashion can be. I love to dress ultra-feminine and body-conscious, and also love a bohemian, comfortable vibe. I feel my personal fashion versatility has helped me to accommodate all clients, with a very wide range of tastes.
My lifelong love of styling & fashion always had people noticing and asking me for wardrobe advice. I have assisted countless family and friends, male and female, with their “What Do I Wear?!” moments. I love working in the film industry as a costumer as much as I love rifling through closets to help people make style out of chaos, or just pull an excellent look together.
