I am inventing reasons to throw a party just because U Had Me at Cake!
We have had treats from U Had Me at Cake for 2 events in 2016, and we are just getting started. What has made me instantly loyal to Emmie and her delicious creations is that she listens better than anyone with whom I have ever done business. Add artistry and masterful baking with ladles of love for her craft, Emmie is positioning herself to be the ultimate closer to the Tri-Valley foodie scene.
A first-time mom, I had no idea what would work for my son's 1st birthday party. Emmie took our party theme and delivered the most original designs we have ever tasted! I'm a "word" person, it's difficult for me to conceive graphically; but Emmie took those scattered ideas and designed cake pops with my son's initials perfectly set as if the Rolls Royce logo in edible gold -- it was OTT and everybody loved it, including my 1 year old -- because it was gluten free I felt he could indulge on his birthday. I am so happy to be able to tell my son that his 1st taste of cake was from U Had Me at Cake.
In addition to the pie pops (Apple Cinnamon - incredible, 1st to get eaten up!) and cake pops (Carrot Cake - savory yum; and the gorgeous gluten free chocolate) Emmie suggested we also do a smash cake. Not only was it a stunning smash cake custom to our theme, it was absolutely delicious! Vanilla with whipped cream frosting in the shape of a gold fire hydrant. It was the only time throughout the 3 hour party that I was able to spend with my son, smashing our faces in that hydrant together. I wouldn't have had that shared experience were it not for Emmie's insight, passion and joy for creating beautiful experiences for her clients. We also ordered a gluten free keepsake cake and custom-made candle, all of which were hand delivered to our event location by Emmie herself!
Just this month we had our 2nd party featuring U Had Me at Cake confections. When I say, "featuring" I mean I put it on the invitations just to get my friends to rsvp quick! And true to form, everyone oohed and ahhhed over the cake we shared as our eyes rolled back in our heads all at once (Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting) Fortunately for us, Emmie does a 1/4-sheet cake which was the perfect size for 30 guests. She provided an edible print of a design she came up with based on a "mood board" I sent to her over 4 or 5 emails. Emmie, like an oracle with the oven, tapped my soul to come up with an original design that was absolutely gorgeous and befitting our party theme for the Vernal Equinox.
And finally over Easter we took advantage of U Had Me at Cake's Easter Baskets for $15. It was an incredible value and I should have ordered a half dozen to gift! Not only was it an honest to good Easter Basket made of felt and in cute spring characters (mine were a bunny and a chick, keeping forever!) loaded heavy with surprise eggs filled with chocolates, the baskets were also a sampler of Emmie's incredible artistry and mad decent sugar skills. Included in the handmade samples, egg-shaped Rice Krispie Treats (meant for sharing, its so generous), yellow chicks of chocolate cake (very light, so if you love rich chocolate, I highly recommend going with the gluten free chocolate), iridescent freckled quail eggs of cookies and cream (these I could eat all day, my total fave), the cutest bunny nose vanilla (so moist and light, the icing really takes the cake though - you put it up to your face and it looks like you got a bunny nose, like the mustache thing -- which she does of course!), and a caramel filled chocolate bunny. It was a stellar assortment! Fun, tasty, festive and full of keepsakes for the little ones. I'm making sure to check her facebook regularly for more specials.
I am so grateful to Emmie for providing me and my family with amazing service and extraordinary desserts. And to think I found her on Yelp -- the photos on Thumbrack speak volumes on her artistry. What elevates my experiences with Emmie is that feeling of being heard, having an ally in my events and having my enthusiasm matched.
