Introduction: Throughout the process of my undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, I have performed at very high levels. I have, however, also taken challenging courses in music history and theory. This gives me a well rounded approach to music. I believe that without an understanding of music history or a rich knowledge of the language of music (music theory), one cannot fully teach music. I consider myself strong in these categories. With all of this background information, performance talent, and teaching experience, I provide uniquely effective and satisfying music lessons. I have been teaching private lessons for piano and trumpet for almost ten years. In this time I have learned that each student is unique and requires a careful and thoughtful approach. The process of understanding a student and figuring out what they need is a challenging but fun process. In addition to this, I love that the process of teaching allows me to grow my own understanding of music. The process of teaching forces your mind to more fully comprehend and organize your own knowledge.
