Kristen Charles is a great piano teacher. My son has been taking lessons for a year now from her and when he started he was completely new to piano. In just a year he had learned a lot from her. She is patient, understanding and respectful toward the kids. My son always look forward to going to piano because she always reward each kid for their effort. She always teaches every child base on what they can do, she never rushes them or push them to do more than what they can do. She teaches step by step and never overwhelmed them by making them learn more then they need to know. She make each lesson easy enough for him to understand and she always make each lesson fun to attend. My son is always excited about piano because she would keep him interested by challenging him to keep learning. Overall she is a wonderful and fun teacher to learn piano with. We will continue to take lesson with her because she is flexible and great with my son.

Kristin is especially good with children. She is able to keep lessons moving and the student on task and still have fun in the process.

I highly recommend Kristin as a teacher. She is a gifted educator and you can tell she’s passionate about what she does. I was incredibly impressed that she focuses on interval training and teaches students how to transpose music very early on. She is able to break down very complicated theory in an accessible way, and imparts the love of music to her students. I feel she sets children up for success long-term because of the detailed nature of her teaching process. She’s also a very delightful person who relates well with children and makes them feel special and encouraged.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are 30-minutes. Monthly is $24/lesson. Quarterly (which includes a $2/lesson discount) is $22/lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I teach mostly piano and guitar, and also ukulele. As a piano student, you get to focus on reading music and theory games until you accomplish the primer or prep level (which is the musical equivalent to kindergarten). Once you've accomplished this level, you will learn to play chords. This allows you to pick your favorite songs from YouTube or the radio and learn simple versions of them. As you continue to progress you'll be able to embellish and play the songs closer to, and eventually completely to, the signature sound. As your instructor, it's exciting to watch you develop confidence and skills when you are having fun playing your favorite songs! As a guitar student, you will begin with partial chords. This allows you to start playing along with YouTube within, on average, about 1-3 months. After you have learned the most popular chords we begin to learn the full version of them. I also teach a wide variety of strumming patterns signature to each song and break them down for you so they are easy to understand. As you progress, we begin learning tabs and individual notes with licks. Adults and children are welcome. When you buy 4 lessons you get 2 FREE. I would love to have you come check things out!

I have been teaching since the age of 17 and have over 20 years of experience. I am often incorporating new and fun teaching techniques so you always have something fun to look forward to.
