Chris has been my son's school music teacher for three years. From the start, Chris has introduced many musical concepts in the classroom and I have always been impressed with the age-appropriate methods that Chris employs to engage the children; ie using their bodies to understand rhythm, explaining how practice differs from performing, etc. Our son adores Chris and responds to the guidance he provides during his lessons. We began weekly private music lessons a year ago and have been consistently happy with Chris's instruction. He has a talent for explaining ideas to children and even when our son hasn't had time to practice, he comes away from the lesson with encouragement and excitement to continue.

It is not easy to make a child sit still for a length of time. It is also difficult to keep their curiosity and eagerness to learn a new instrument. Chris was patient and skillful in doing both with my son &my son loves to learn drums

Our son has been taking trumpet lessons with Christopher Tolbert for about a year. Not only is it great to have someone who comes to our home, but it's wonderful that we can easily reach him by phone or text if something comes up (illness, bad traffic, etc.) Our son has grown steadily in his skill and understanding of music performance with Christopher's teaching, and we also appreciate that he's an honest teacher who doesn't let our son slip by with bad practice habits.

Mr. Tolbert has a holistic approach to teaching music and incorporates various elements of art when introducing a new piece. He is expert at teaching and playing various instruments and can instruct all. He has high expectations for his students and is kind, generous and caring.
