- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started in a technical high school for carpentry and went right into the field from school. I worked for a small company for approximately 9 years running my first remodel at the age of 21 for them. Progressing up through lead carpenter and project manager before moving on to help a new handyman company get started and then to a new home builder for a few years. Working in all these different aspects has given me extensive knowledge of all the trades and how the need to work around each other as well as project timelines and subcontractor scheduling.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
One of my grandfathers was a union carpenter since he was 18. It lead me to see his work and hear him talk about jobs. Early woodworking with him led me to progress into the field.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check reviews and ask for photos of similar work done. On this app the secret to getting quality numbers and getting more quotes is info. The better info you can provide the more you will get back. For instance saying you need trim, drywall, painting or tile in 2 rooms does nothing to paint a picture. Give room dimensions or SQFT. We can’t price a job if we don’t know how big rooms are. So lots of contractors will pass on pricing.
