Introduction: My work is consistently high quality AND truly affordable compared to most other photographers at my level. I am a laid back person who helps people feel comfortable and show their true personality in their photos, then I meticulously edit each image to make it as colorful and stunning as possible. I fix fly away hairs, teeth, signs or posts in the background, skin, and more. I even swap heads in group pictures if someone's eyes are closed or their smile is better in another picture!! The people! I don't have this job out of necessity, but out of a love for what I do. I love getting to provide people with these precious keepsakes from important moments in their lives. I love that it allows me to work on nights and weekends so I can be at home with my children during the day, but still have an outlet for my creativity!

Lisa has been taking our family pictures since I was pregnant with my first child, almost four years ago. We continue to go back to her for all our photos, from maternity to birthdays. We have been in her studio and at several locations, including our home. She is always able to capture such amazing spirit and emotion in each photo. Even when I think my kids have been uncooperative, Lisa has found ways to get them laughing, and Im always so pleased with the end result. One of our sessions was at our home, and I wasnt really sure what to expect. We ended up with amazing pictures of my kids playing and just having fun at home, with the murals I painted on their walls documented in the background. They are exactly what I wanted, but I couldnt have articulated that Lisa just has that eye where she knows how to get the best shots. I am usually a person who feels uncomfortable in front of the camera as well, but Lisa is just a genuinely nice person, so you cant help but feel relaxed around her. We refer her to everyone we know even my brother who lives out of state had a session done with his family while they were visiting us. I really cant say enough good things about Lisas work.

Lisa is wonderful to work with in every way. She is flexible with scheduling and her prices are reasonable. Being a Mom herself, she is great with kids and able to bring out their personality in the photos. She has a fantastic eye and takes beautiful photos, and also does a great combination of candids and posed. I remember back to our first session with Lisa, my son's newborn session- it was one of our first trips out of the house with a newborn and I was so nervous. Lisa made us feel so comfortable, she was great with the baby, and the photos were beautiful. We have had many photo sessions with Lisa since then and I wouldn't change a single thing. She is so talented and just a lovely person to work with. You can tell that she truly loves what she does, and it shows in her photos.

Lisa did a great job shooting photos for my wedding. She was very organized and worked with me to make sure that all of the group and family shots went well. She let me choose some poses that were especially important to me but filled in the spaces with poses that she knew would look great. I am so happy with the quality of the photos and how great she was to work with. She also offers her service for a great price, especially compared to other wedding photographers. I was a student when I got married, so cost was an important consideration for me. She was very willing to work with me to make sure that I got all of the shots that I wanted for the right price. Nowadays so many people just look at photos on Facebook, so I liked that she just gave me the digital photo files instead of ordering prints from her. I had access to hundreds of photos from all throughout the day and I can decide when and how I want to publish them. And it keeps the cost down. I would highly recommend Lisa to my family and friends.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
Although my master's degree is in Speech Pathology, I have always been interested in photography and when a friend of mine who was a photographer was leaving the area, she offered to mentor me before she left and then refer her clientele to me! I bought a camera and spent time shadowing her. I bought guides to photography and cameras and read them cover to cover, trying every different setting and concept. I have spent hours practicing and researching to develop this talent!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone with a large enough portfolio that you can get a feel for their work. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
We spend a lot of time outside of the session answering emails, advertising, editing photos, and education ourselves to keep our art growing. The product you get is a result of all those hours. The time we spend taking your pictures is just the tip of the iceberg of what you are paying for.
