Introduction: We have THE best quality and customer service in North San Diego County! Our service always exceeds our client's expectations! From guard rails to staircase railings, fireplace screens and courtyard gates....we do it all custom to our client's specs. We do not do driveway gates, or standard fencing. Send us a message, and we’ll schedule a quick phone call, then come out to do an in-person proposal. We do not utilize the auto schedule function offered by Thumbtack. We will want to have a conversation on the phone prior to coming out for an estimate. Typically our lead time is within a couple of weeks. We'll keep you in the loop the whole way. I have wanted a more modern style railing since I moved into our house 8.5 years ago, and I just finally made it happen. We didn’t use a GC for our stair remodel, and thus I was finding subs myself, and I found Smith Metalworks. Chris/Marni were clear communicators throughout the process, letting me know what was realistic and where I’d need other subs (e.g., turning the stairs from an open to a closed stringer). Sometimes when subs primarily work with GCs (versus home owners) it can be intimidating and/or confusing. Not with Marni/Chris. They walked me through the process, asked thoughtful Q’s about my design inspo, and made/installed a beautiful railing. I love it and am so excited about our new stairs!

Metalworks did an excellent job on the railing they installed for me. They were even able to start the job sooner than anticipated. The rail is beautiful & sturdy. They came in did the job and cleaned up afterwards. I watched as they precisely measured every step of the way. If I ever need railing work again, or any metal work, they will be the first ones I call.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We are fair in our pricing. We are not the cheapest, although we are definitely not the most expensive. We provide Quality, Affordable Craftsmanship!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is usually best if we are able to start off the process with a telephone call. Typically, the next step would be to come out and have an onsite meeting to discuss details about the job. At that point, we'll put together a proposal with pictures if applicable, and email to the potential client within 24 hours.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
OSHA training. Project Management experience. California State Contractor.
