Alan is a thoughtful and insightful therapist. He helped me sort out my thoughts and get unstuck. I really think he can provide the help you want.Feb 27, 2016
Alan is a warm and effective therapist, with a great blend of intellect and heart. He's helped me explore ways of creating safety in my relationship, which allows me to reach for deeper intimacy. He's helped me understand myself and my partner in ways I hadn't previously considered. I recommend him highly as a therapist for couples and individuals.Nov 17, 2015
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I provide a safe place for you to look at the patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that may be interfering with your happiness. My basic approach is simply gentle conversation. Together we may identify patterns that are troublesome for you, look for ways to break the patterns, and maybe even practice some skills. I like to keep part of the focus on whats good: whats been going right, celebrating strengths, and rediscovering love and trust. If you are struggling with roadblocks to the life you want, I can help.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I graduated from Antioch University of Seattle with a Masters of Couples and Family Therapy. I have training in Structural Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Coupless Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic approaches, and the treatment of trauma and internalized oppression. I am strongly influenced by Dan Seigels integrative neuropsychology and use attachment theory (the simple relationship between therapist and clients) as the vehicle for my work.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I found psychotherapy fabulous for my own growth and want to bring that benefit to others.
