Growing up I never had to worry or think about what I ate. I was tiny....very tiny and could eat how ever much I wanted and what ever I wanted. I grew up with a mother that cooked homemade meals and for the most part only had healthy food in the house, so for the most part I ate healthy....but I had a bagel.....or two....with cream cheese every morning (they are my favorite), or waffles, or cereal. I'd eat rice and pasta and pizza and bread and more bread, my moms was always yelling at me to eat some vegetables. Regardless, what or how I ate was never on my mind. I just ate what I wanted and still barely could hit 100 pounds. When I turned 21 I started feeling very sick, I was always tired and I started gaining weight....faster and faster. The more I gained, the worse I felt and the cycle continued. By the end of my junior year I weighed 135 pounds, which on my 5'2" petite frame looked like a lot of extra weight. My family was worried about me but none of them could figure out how to help. Eat better, be more active....... all the typical advice.....which I agree can make the world of difference. But something else was wrong with me. After I graduated from college, after spending 2 years in physical and emotional pain, seeing doctor after doctor........I moved in with Dara. It took her all of 2 weeks to notice I had a "gluten intolerance". A few weeks later a was diagnosed with celiac. Now would I have eventually found this out, yes... but I had been seeing doctors for years and it took Dara two weeks to figure it out. Why? Because she is the greatest. She cares, she's observant, she's educated and is so passionate about constantly learning about your body, health, nutrition and fitness. If I had to pick what sets Dara apart it would be her true genuine desire to help all her clients. She goes above and beyond to make sure you understand what your body needs. In the past year she has taught be how to love clean healthy food, with all her incredible recipes but mostly importantly educated me on what my body needs to STAY healthy. I have more energy, I am back to my normal weight and most importantly I am HAPPY. She is not interested in quick fixes. She is interested in making you the best person you can be with realistic, fun and effective programs.
