FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After speaking with a client, addressing any questions they have, and an appointment is set, we arrive to the customers home. We request to have access to either the kitchen sink and a small area to groom, or a bathroom where we can work. For cat grooming, a bathroom is preferred because restraints are not used for their groom. The only other thing that we require is a power outlet! All grooming tools are brought with us and sanitized between grooms. We use all natural products and work at the animals pace to make the groom as enjoyable as possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been grooming since 2010, and have received certifications for grooming. I also take continuing education seminars.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been extremely passionate about animals, and started volunteering in shelters, walking neighbors dogs, petsitting, picking up neighbors dogs waste, etc as soon as I was old enough. In fact, my parents have said that since I could talk, I begged for a dog. Once I started grooming, I found that there was a lack of groomers who were willing to work with the more 'troubled' cases, leaving these dogs or cats to be banned from grooming salons with no one to work with them. Really, these dogs and cats aren't naughty, but scared. I aimed to start a grooming service that would work WITH these pets and develop their confidence about being groomed. I also noticed that there was an uptick in news about dogs being injured or even killed while being groomed in traditional salons. To address both of these problems, I turned to house call grooming. It is one on one, in the pet's most comfortable environment, their home. There are no distractions from dogs who are waiting to be picked up who are barking, no other groomers working with their dogs giving them commands, no scary smells or sounds (other than use of necessary grooming tools), no walk in customers distracting from the time with your pet, no pile up of pets waiting to be groomed, no kennels, no cage drying.
