FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Modern Muse Education is student driven, not sales driven. We offer a wide range of services that range from $28/hr to $95/hr, depending on the service. This ensures that families can focus on helping their child discover success, rather than figuring out if the service is "worth their investment". We offer "hours sharing" between students within the same family, discounts for students with FARMS designations (MCPS), and referral bonuses for families who spread the word about working with us. We are truly a community driven company that wants to help our neighbors and their children feel like they have someone in their corner. We also offer a range of payment plans: 93% of our customers have customized payment plans, and have said it makes the whole experience much more manageable.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After an initial contact, we set up a free consultation (either over the phone, or in person at our main office). Those thirty minutes are designed to get a better idea of the type of support you're looking for and if Modern Muse Education is able to provide that support. If we agree that it would be a good fit, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required, but it is credit towards any package you may want to pursue. Think of it as a "try before you buy". If after the trial period you decide it isn't a good fit, you're welcome to move on without paying for a full package. Otherwise, we will discuss hourly rates, and sign a contract which certifies your rate, and the service you're expecting to be provided with.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our tutors have a college degree in their related field of work, but a few are also certified in the state of Maryland to teach as well. Our tutors have B.A.s in English, Psychology and Mathematics, as well as B.S. Degrees in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering and Psychology. Four of our staff members are pursuing graduate school education in the fields of Industrial Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Curriculum Instruction and Design. Our CEO has been working with MCPS and Montgomery College for the last two years in a professional capacity providing consulting and Mathematics and Psychology support to students at risk of not completing their degrees, or moving on to pursue post-secondary education.
