We hired Mike and his crew to do a complete rewire of the house and to upgrade the electrical panel. Mike is one of the most honest contractors out there, he cares about you and your house as if you were one of his friend and the house was his. We have a baby and bought a new house, the schedule was super tight!!!, Mike and his crew worked overtime everyday and even worked on Sundays, I could see that he was suffering to see us not being able to move in with the baby, that tells you the kind of person he is. As a contractor, his work is absolutely flawless, nothing but absolute perfection delivered in time and within the quoted price. Mike went way beyond his scope of work just to help us without overcharging for anything (he is a great guy). He passed the inspection with flying colors, the inspector even mentioned that he would hire Mike to do any work in his house because he knows that Mike is one of the best contractors out there. The best part about Mike for me is that he was a general contractor and did plumbing installations before doing any electrical (he has the three licenses) so that makes him have a better understanding about everything that goes around the electrical and he will design all the electrical to work around the rest of the stuff in the present and he will also think about your future needs. Another thing that I really liked is that he patches EVERYTHING!!!! He even did all the stucco around the panel (he did it so well that its impossible to tell that he even trenched the wall), that makes a huge difference for me because you don’t need any extra contractors coming to do it and he includes it in the price!!!! Absolutely amazing. I have recommended him to all my friends, my realtor even asked me about his contact information after seeing what he did in my house. I would definitely recommend him to anyone of you out there thinking about your next projects. He will be back in my house for sure, I trust him so much as a person and as a contractor that I am trying to push him to do work that he normally doesn’t do anymore (thinking about an addition to the house. I can assure you that at the end of your project you will be absolutely stunned about his work and you will feel like you have found the contractor that you want to do ALL the future projects in your house.Nov 10, 2017VerifiedAmerican Castles's reply

I have had Mike Tay of American Castles as my go-to General Contactor for the past few years. He is incredibly talented in all areas of construction. You won't find a more professional, more trustworthy or nicer General Contractor anywhere!Sep 23, 2016American Castles's reply
Thank you Sandie for giving the opportunity to work on your beautiful house and I really appreciate your review.
Mike and his crew did an amazing job on our master bathroom! This was our first time working with a contractor and I’m so glad we went with Mike. He was very professional and cared about his workmanship and how satisfied we were with his work. Our bathroom is beyond beautiful and I still have “pinch me” moment every time I go in there.May 5, 2018VerifiedAmerican Castles's reply
Thank you Shawna, I’m glad we were able to help.
I cannot express how happy we are with our project! We have a mid-century home and love modern finishes we had many other bids on this job and every estimate we received the contractors wanted the easy job and we had a vision and Mike was the only one that saw it a well.Excellent work and complete professional and always on time.We had our guest bathroom remodeled including moving plumbing. We cannot wait to have Mike back to do our master bath!Nov 28, 2016VerifiedAmerican Castles's reply
Jonathan, I really enjoyed working with you on this remodel as I look forward to the next project. I know it will not be easy but I welcome the challenge. thanks again
We recently had our home painted and wanted to add exterior coach lights to both sides of the garage door. We had several quotes for the job (using same materials) and Mike's quote was the most reasonable of them all. We set up an appointment for the job and Mike not only showed up on time but also called to let us know he was on his way (this is rare with most contractors/installers). He performed the work promptly and added a photo cell so the lights turn on at night and off in the morning by themselves. This exterior accent lighting was the finishing touch for our home improvement project which now also adds a bit more security to our dwelling. We were extremely happy with Mike's friendly service, highly recommend him and plan to use him again in the future. American Castles and Mike Tay are class acts!Oct 23, 2016VerifiedAmerican Castles's reply
Thank you Steve, we like to think of ourselves as Professionals serving Professionals like yourself. Perfection and customer satisfaction is always my top priority.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing always depends on how extensive a job can be. I would be aware of anybody that would have a set of standard pricing not knowing what the job is. I do NOT give out ball park estimations for I do not want to miss lead anyone, I don't mind traveling and do not charge my customers for giving estimates.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I will set up a meeting with my customers just to introduce myself and listen to what their plans are and what other ideas they have in mind in regards to their future project. I like to discuss and exchange ideas with my customers until we have a clear understanding of the project at hand, then I will advise and recommend the best method possible to proceed while giving out a fair estimate on of how long it would take to complete. I will go over both of our obligations and what is expected of each other during this period as I tend to keep my customers involved in every aspect of the job from initial design to picking up the finish material. Although keeping the project on time is one of my main obligations, I'm always open to any suggestions at any time during the job as long as it is beneficial and improves on the original design of the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been a licensed General building contractor since 2004. Later on I became a licensed Plumber, and a licensed Electrician. I have been in the construction industry since 1998. I have attended Electrical and Plumbing certification courses at Coastline community college. I have also completed HVAC certificate program at Orange Coast college. I am a Certified Welder from the city of Los Angeles. I also have a Renewable Energy certificate from GoldenWest college.
