About this pro
Mike and his crew did an amazing job on our master bathroom! This was our first time working with a contractor and I’m so glad we went with Mike. He was very professional and cared about his workmanship and how satisfied we were with his work. Our bathroom is beyond beautiful and I still have “pinch me” moment every time I go in there.May 5, 2018VerifiedMIKE T.'s reply
Thank you Shawna, I’m glad we were able to help.
We recently had our home painted and wanted to add exterior coach lights to both sides of the garage door. We had several quotes for the job (using same materials) and Mike's quote was the most reasonable of them all. We set up an appointment for the job and Mike not only showed up on time but also called to let us know he was on his way (this is rare with most contractors/installers). He performed the work promptly and added a photo cell so the lights turn on at night and off in the morning by themselves. This exterior accent lighting was the finishing touch for our home improvement project which now also adds a bit more security to our dwelling. We were extremely happy with Mike's friendly service, highly recommend him and plan to use him again in the future. American Castles and Mike Tay are class acts!Oct 23, 2016VerifiedMIKE T.'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing always depends on how extensive a job can be. I would be aware of anybody that would have a set of standard pricing not knowing what the job is. I do NOT give out ball park estimations for I do not want to miss lead anyone, I don't mind traveling and do not charge my customers for giving estimates.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I will set up a meeting with my customers just to introduce myself and listen to what their plans are and what other ideas they have in mind in regards to their future project. I like to discuss and exchange ideas with my customers until we have a clear understanding of the project at hand, then I will advise and recommend the best method possible to proceed while giving out a fair estimate on of how long it would take to complete. I will go over both of our obligations and what is expected of each other during this period as I tend to keep my customers involved in every aspect of the job from initial design to picking up the finish material. Although keeping the project on time is one of my main obligations, I'm always open to any suggestions at any time during the job as long as it is beneficial and improves on the original design of the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been a licensed General building contractor since 2004. Later on I became a licensed Plumber, and a licensed Electrician. I have been in the construction industry since 1998. I have attended Electrical and Plumbing certification courses at Coastline community college. I have also completed HVAC certificate program at Orange Coast college. I am a Certified Welder from the city of Los Angeles. I also have a Renewable Energy certificate from GoldenWest college.
