About this pro
Only had one class, but Billy is a true professional. He knows his craft. I am looking forward to continuing my classes with Billy and hopefully I will get good at playing the bass as well as Billy.May 10, 2018Verified
I started taking guitar lessons as a beginner a few months ago and am totally happy. Billy has given me a combination of the basics and is also gearing me towards what I want to learn, rock and metal. His explanations are clear and I come away with great notes to help me practice. I really feel like I'm coming along and that makes me excited to keep at it. Most of all, he makes learning guitar fun! Highly recommend!May 9, 2018Verified
Yeah.... I think Billy's an excellent instructor. The quality of his lessons are top notch. He always comes in with a lesson plan and it begins from there, before you know it you're playing a bass riff or two from the lesson you just given. And he also playing along with you. I find it to be a lot of fun, and I haven't had as much fun with learning since Junior High. I'd recommend him to anyone who'd want to learn how to play bass guitar.Apr 1, 2018Verified
My son has been receiving lessons for almost two months and has really picked up a lot and enjoys his sessions with his teacher. I sit in on most of the lessons and Billy is pleasant and respectful with a good sense of humor.Nov 2, 2017Verified
I took lessons with Billy for 3 years. He's a phenomenal teacher and just a real stand up guy. He stresses the importance of knowing all your scales and all the modes, and teaches you different ways to incorporate them into your playing. He teaches you not only how to play, but also the reasoning behind what you play. He teaches everything, from jazz, to metal, funk, ska, punk, and so much more. He's also very big on ear training so except to sing a little. It might be awkward at first but it really does help you improve! We typically spent the first half of the lesson after warming up focusing on theory, and the second half implementing the theory to solidify that knowledge. I know that for me personally, I'm easily discouraged, and Billy never stopped supporting me and never let me give up on myself. I can't recommend Billy enough!Jun 4, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $45 an hour flat. I am willing to work with students on payment for shorter lessons. I also offer the first lesson FREE of charge, as a way to get to know students, and as an investment in their growth as musicians.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take? The biggest project for me, which I started near 5 years ago, was adding upright bass to my repertoire of instruments. It's such a physical instrument, but is so rewarding to play and to listen to. I think in many ways, this project is still "in progress." Studying any instrument is a life long process of discovery and regular practice. I am constantly learning new things about playing and teaching the bass from my students, other professionals, and in my own practice.
