Introduction: Hello! I’m Amy, a writer, editor, copy editor, and proofreader. With a decade of experience working for newspapers, marketing firms, real estate companies, small businesses, websites, and private clients, I’m ready to help you create polished content. As a lifelong writer with a degree in Professional Writing and Editing, I have the knowledge to make sure that content is grammatically perfect and error-free. I look forward to working with you!
My work in writing has been extremely varied, including articles for BabyGaga.com, high-end real estate brochures and web content for Santa Barbara company iNSITES, articles about books, fitness, and parenting for The Santa Barbara Independent newspaper, marketing collateral for fitness and construction companies, and community news reporting.
I have extensive experience in editing and expert knowledge in copyediting and proofreading. I was longtime Copy Chief at The Santa Barbara Independent newspaper, where I also served as a proofreader and copy editor. I set and enforced editorial deadlines, managed a staff of editors, and reviewed pages before approving them for publication each week.
As a freelance editor, I've enjoyed longterm relationships with many clients. I was editor and proofreader for the 2015 book Impact X: How to Transform Your Wisdom, Work, and Wealth into Meaningful Community Impact. This project grew into an online magazine at impactmania.com, where I edit monthly stories about people making positive changes in their communities and in the world.
My work for private clients has also included editing, copyediting, and proofreading of web content, marketing collateral, and installation guides for fitness, construction, and other companies. I've also worked with novelists, job applicants looking to improve their cover letters and résumés, and more.
My education in English and Professional Writing/Editing from the University of California, Santa Barbara, prepared me well for creating high-quality, error-free content.
