Hired on Thumbtack

Ricky first contacted me on Tuesday January 17th about my project. We both agreed for him to stop by my place on Friday afternoon, January 20th. Friday came and he never showed up, nor did he contact me. I reached out to him and then he apologized and said he got tied up in a project and forgot to call. I understand that happens and it was ok, so I asked him when we could reschedule. It is now Wednesday evening, January 25th and he has not returned my phone call/voicemail or answered any of my messages here on Thumbtack. I have wasted over a week in getting my plumbing project done, and I am now back at square one. Ricky seemed like a nice gentleman when I spoke to him, but he has very much proved himself to be quite unreliable. If you need a project done I would look for a more reliable source, someone that when they say they will be there you know they will be there, and if not they will go out of their way to reschedule. I have been nothing but nice, understanding and patient with him and now I haven't heard from him in four days. I know it is 2017, but does every business owner in this country have the same "don't care" attitude?!
Ricky Stephens Plumbing's reply
Rick, I apologize for any inconvenience, and if I can do something to make it right with you sir I will be more than happy to come and look at the job entirely and discuss the details especially when with drilling the tgi joists you have as we discussed, and I truly apologize because it is nothing to do with getting paid by far, I am more than happy to drive an hour and a half one way to make it right with you, I have been tied up with emergency calls where there is water leaking in walls, ceilings, floors, and no water issues at all and I was doing everything I could to relieve stress of possible property damage from water leaks and these were also clients that are not going through this site, and I truly care about my customers, I am very willing to come to your house and look at the job and give you my opinion on the scope of work and I will not come with a chip on my shoulder in any way towards you because I did neglect to communicate with you. I will reply to your message and call you and see if we can get time tomorrow afternoon, I truly hope that you can allow me to do everything possible to make it right with you Rick, I am very sorry again for not contacting or communicating with you. Sincerely, Ricky

I could not be more please right now. Ricky came out to my house the day I contacted him to give me an estimate. Was easy to communicate with, worked over text if need be (while I was at work), was extremely nice, responsive and professional. Basically my shower could have been two issues, a pretty bad one or an easy one, he worked with me to make sure I knew what was going on the whole time. Came out after the estimate, fixed within 10 minutes and charged a more than reasonable price. Not only that, but while at my house, he entertained my young son, let him watch, and made sure to keep my wife up to date with what he was doing. (These are all little things, but go a long way towards making a customer happy). I called around a couple places and was weary of paying a service call fee before even knowing what the issue was... so happy I went this route instead. If you're weighing options, go with Ricky!!

I used Ricky Stephens Plumbing to repair an old shower valve in my home that was leaking. Ricky was quick to respond once I made my initial request on Thumbtack and we kept in contact via text/call to look at the issue and my options as well as set a date for repair. Ricky was able to fix my shower valve (no more leaking!) and also did some education for me on what type of shower valve I had and what my best options would be - not to mention he showed me where my city water meter was which I never knew. Anytime I hire someone for work in the home, I always find it extra special when they take the time to educate me on the what they are doing and why they are doing it which in turn helps me to be a more informed customer! Ricky left my bathroom area clean and tidy when he finished up. Overall I was very pleased with Ricky and his work - I've saved his number in case I have any plumbing needs in the future!
