- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have generally set pricing on Thumbtack for delivery of around 10-30 final edited photos and distances from my home base of Washtenaw and Jackson counties, Michigan of approximately 50 mile. I AM VERY WILLING TO TRAVEL FURTHER for photo assignments and ALSO TAKE ON LARGER ASSIGNMENTS with greater numbers of edited photos. In such cases I will need to negotiate a price for the specific needs of the assignment. I arrive at the photo assignment with high quality camera and lighting gear, seamless backdrops as required and everything needed to shoot photographs requested by the customer. I can create a virtual studio on location with light weight gear that goes up quickly. My pricing includes travel to locations of customer's choicE and shooting as many photographs as it takes to satisfy the customer's need with excellent quality pictures. After the photo shoot I process the digital photos to make sure the exposure, contrast and color all look good, then I provide the customer with the edited digital images. If customers require physical prints, albums, or photo books, I can provide those at a reasonable additional cost agreed to by the customer in advance. Customers will not be required or urged to purchase anything beyond the original agreed upon photo services.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?When potential customers reach out to me through Thumbtack messaging or by phone with questions, I try to answer all their concerns promptly. Before the photo shoot, I like to meet them via a phone conversation in which we talk in more detail about the customer's photo preferences and requirements. From this conversation, I have a better idea going into the photo session how I'm going to approach the photo shoot and the customer has a better idea of how the shoot will go.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University after which I worked in book and magazine publishing. I became the art director for several magazines and a designer of numerous book covers. In those roles I often shot the cover photos and interior magazine photos. I've also taken many photos for website use. At the same time I began freelancing photography for other publishers, businesses and individuals etc.
